Quincy Jones is a producing legend however I think he is downplaying Kanye's production skills a ton by saying he is just " a rapper". Kanye was known for his accomplishments in production before he ever was a recording artist.

Is Kanye on the level of Quincy Jones talent wise? No he isnt. But is he as demanded as Mr. Jones once was for his production talent? Yes. That was the question that was asked as far as similarity which Jones chose not to answer here. I understand Quicny may not want someone else to be compared to his entire body of work which is fair but he should have gotten his facts straight before criticizing Kanye for just being a rapper and devaluing his accomplishments and impact as a producer.

I honestly won't say that Quincy is just mad here but more of a case of being severely misinformed.

Angry rant ahead:

Quincy is so overratted. He ain't do @#!# on MJ's album but basically say whether or not he liked the song. If you guys can, look at the individual song credits for every song from OTW to Bad, I think his name only appears once if I recall (PYT). But yet Quincy gets treated like he just gave MJ the music and told him to sing over it. There's a reason those two stopped working together, MJ wanted more credit, and Quincy couldn't take the circus that is Michael Jackson. Remember MJ had to beg Quincy to get a producers credit for Billie Jean, when the song was 100% MJ's creation (listen to the demos). And don't get me started on how a 77 year old man is calling everybody "haters" cause his new album is cheeks. If you can't tell by now, I can't stand Quincy Jones. This is a black man who has stepped on many backs to get where he is. Oh yeah, I forgot how he was talking about how MJ wanted to be white, when all this **** do is stick his **** in white women (His girls are gorgeous though).
