Jordan Retro 1 '85 Black/Red Feb 14th 2025

I wouldn't call it complaining but it's very normal to see posters on NT talking about shoes sitting or being bricks as if it's a bad thing then you got folks like myself who enjoy being able to get whatever shoe I want for retail or below retail.

Last year was the best year I can remember for getting sneakers for retail. I was hoping this was the new standard not a one off.

In ALL honesty y'all, I'm VERY attemped to just bite the bullet and do it. I've been REALLY wanting these since they were first announced, but my BIGGEST fear is that after they drop, the asinine resell prices will be even worse.

Seriously, what the y'all think I should do? Cop now, or wait it out?
I would wait. April 1 is the real public release date. It is whispers of a shock drop with a “crony” Aprils Fool theme.

I doubt the resell prices of the Covid Jordan era will go back.
Yup. People were stuck at home and had nothing to spend their money on.

But then again, there are more than 10K people in this world who are rich, so you never know with a pair like these. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Perfectly example of people who’s in this for the sneakers, and those who are in this for the hype…Unfortunately the people who just want the shoes are starting to become a rare thing and the majority are just about those resell $$ signs 🤷‍♂️

I been said a while ago, someone who’s in this for the shoes will find a pair they vibe with off the clearance shelf at Footlocker…

They under no circumstances wanted these to “sit” to the point of almost being beyond paranoid about it. There solution? Limit them beyond measure to under 10k pairs to 23 wholesale retailers (not 23 stores only), but 23 different retailers accounts across many stores.

Nike either intentionally limits production numbers to drive up hype and try to move off the shelf ~almost there~ product, or they’re so out of touch with the consumer that they make one of the most beloved pairs of sneakers in their entire history essentially unobtainable?…Or is it both 🤔? Playing the ~it’s one or the other~ game, which would be worse? Screw the consumer so they can meet sky high record setting stock expectations, or put people in positions to make these decisions who have zero read on the pulse of the consumer…Both are horrible looks for a multi billion dollar company, but only one tracks with how multi billion dollar companies generally work…

I keep telling y’all…

Nike. Doesn’t. Care.

They want you to buy the junk that costs them $.25 to produce at a 1000% markup and get mad when you only end up spending 500% markup to buy it…Of course they’re terrified when **** sits, and you can be damn sure they blame the consumer when it does…This right here reads that Nike simply made this decision as a **** you to their customers for not continuing to eat up all the junk they put out 🤷‍♂️

Depending on the actual amount out there I’m guessing $400-$500 range for resell. Buying now isn’t the move unless money isn’t an object.

Took one for the team lol, will post once I got em. If Resell isn't crazy I will take my L but I`m already a size they gets screwed over. Will just triple up if if all this limited stuff is cap.

I have all the other 85 retros so will compare. Will probably wear these things every day for 2 months straight when I get em just to beat em down and for what I just paid.

You guys think these will be narrow in the toe box area? I have wide feet. and I keep reading how all the 85 cuts fit narrow in the toe box area.

I size up so the two box of the prior retros at least have been wide and spacious. The NG highs were the stiffest pair though (but were gucci once broken in), the other pairs weren't as tough to break in/get comfy

The only pair of '85 highs I own is the recent white/metallic reds. I went tts (size 10) and they were damn near perfect out of the box. They have a thick insole that compresses a lot when worn. Compared to a High OG in the same size, for me those require a bit of stretching/wear, otherwise my pinkies complain 😆

Unlike the airship as the insole in them is dense, bouncy, and compresses very little.. TTS damn near feels like a mistake on first wear

Are you saying there will be a wider release?
Nothing confirmed, just a lot of “what we should do”
April 1 1985 is the date that the original released to the public. All the commercials, selective account, burning tongue, etc…is just to take the focus off the $250 price so when they release it in the future it won’t be any complaints.

We are a small sample size of consumers. Nike has raw data that says if this shoe released for $250-290 depending on taxes it will sit as a GR.

Build hype and random shock drops will control the narrative of their most important sneaker that is currently marked down to $70 at multiple outlets in different colorways.

majority of the consumers can’t even tell the difference between the OGs, Highs, Mids Jordan 1s

I have the same issue. Being a wide footer. I bought all my 85’s in my regular size 11. Go TTS. They will be tight at first but once they break in you’ll be good.

I own the neutral greys and I would not say they’re narrow in the toe box.

They are narrow in the middle section of the shoe and there’s less room between the top of my foot and the laces.

But my normal Jordan 1 size worked for me.

Personally I refuse to give Jordan Brand the satisfaction of paying that much for a shoe that they screwed us over for.

Not saying I haven’t done it before.

But I won’t do it again.

…unless they dip below $450 at some point.
