JAMES BOND movie thread: RIP Sir Sean Connery - NO TIME TO DIE 10/08/21

Should I watch all the previous daniel craig bond movies before watching this one?

forgot to mention but the intro music with eilish was ok but CR intro is still #1, actually CR is just my #1 bond film, it just does everything great

i think it would help but you can probably just do spectre as the bond girl in this film was introduced in the last film

the movie can stand on its own but the other films does add some depth

Bond......

Man...that was fun. When you do a 25th film, there's gonna be some reusing of materials but this honestly didn't feel like that. It was fresh, probably because we knew coming in, for the first time, there is no tomorrow. :frown:
Bond ALWAYS lives. There's ALWAYS more.....and then there wasn't. And I won't lie, it hit me pretty good.
It's a beautiful film, as usual, it has insanely hot women, incredible action shots, great nods to the books like "we have all the time in the world" but this time it added power. Hurt. Loss. I think the reason Casino Royale hit so well was the loss of Vespar. The "turn" of Bond. The thing that changed who he was and would be. This brought that back. I think Royale was better because it was first, because it was bold and new and Craig was so different from the Brosnan corny jokes franchise after Goldeneye. But this was a tremendous "5th" film. Everyone nailed their roles. Malek was creepy as hell. Smart and menacing and crazy, yet real enough to spare a child, twice. (Tho kinda of a trap the 2nd)
Moneypenny, M and Q we're real(er) this time, they all knew the stakes. It showed. They truly respected Bond even tho he was thought of as the rogue rule breaker.
Felix..... :frown: Such a hard scene to watch man. I loved how M was even affected by it.
Bond's girl is fine as hell. My goodness she's fun to look at and she was terrific.

Ana de Armas........my God. She is unbelievable and God I hate Ben Affleck. JLo, Jen Garner and Ana. Not even counting the dozens of randoms he's gone thru, those are some elite talents he's pulled. :smh:
She was spectacular and I prayed she'd get another scene later, but oh well.

The whole end scenes I was picturing a Nintendo 64 video game of this, every shot, every faceless villain they even used proximity mines!!!!!

I'm very curious where they go next. Female Bond? A different nationality? Someone in the theater said he wished they'd change eras and do a 50's style instead of current day. (That would be interesting honestly) I heard Robert Pattinson mentioned. Edris of course, Tom Hardy etc etc. But Craig came out of nowhere, I'm sure they'll pick a solid choice.
But what now? Rehash Spectre? Go back to the beginning, again?
I know Connery is the OG, but the Craig 5 nailed both M's, Moneypenny, Felix, Vespar, Madeline with villains being Javier Bardem, Malek, Waltz, and Mads..... :pimp: :pimp:
That is a SERIOUS resume. People need to put respect on the work they did.
Casino Royale
Quantum
Skyfall
Spectre
No Time to Die

@darthska mentioned the other day he never watched a single one, well, you have, just with other names. EVERY spy-action-cool dude comes from James Bond. Jason Bourne, John Wick, Indiana Jones, Fast and the Furious, Taken, all of em, they all originate from this character. 60+ years, 25 films.

One thing I forgot to add in a different thread, the Score by Hans. Bond music is as classic as it gets but it was FLAWLESS in this one.

7.5/8

It was just ok 🤷‍♂️

James Bond got feelings and a conscience getting older. Didn't really go along with his history.

too long and weak villain, like very weak. I don't even know what his gripe was. They wasted Rami Malek, but I'm kind of tired of him anyway.

Yes

I’ve been seeing this quite a bit, but I get it

In all movies generally I’ve also grown tired of antagonists who just wanna see the world burn for no reason

will probably go see this weekend. skyfall's intro and music was dope as ****

Any estimates when this may start hitting streaming services? I don’t even know the turnaround time of stuff anymore.

no one really knows right now, streaming services are weird right now as there are a bunch of deals that was made prior to the pandemic

one example is reynolds “free guy”, it was made by fox before disney bought them but before that purchase i believe hbo got the rights so they have first dibs on streaming it on max instead of d+ and even though they are theater exclusive for 45 days, it seems it wont stream outside of VoD for a good year

and i believe each film differs in those type of deals but theres no word when this film is set to be released on those streaming services yet

Pirate Streaming services been on struggle mode lately. After being so lovely during the pandemic. It's like they getting us back for last year.

Dolby Digital theater >>> iMax

Movie was masterful. One of my favorites from the series. Daniel Craig goated.

Saw it this afternoon. I wasn't even paying attention to the ticket I bought and it was a DD screening and also in a recently remodeled AMC so seating was great. It's been literally 4+ years since I've seen a movie in a theater and I just didn't feel like waiting for this one to stream.

Overall, I liked it. Although, I was a little confused as to what the main villain's motive was. Also, it's not like Bond had anything to do with any of that, he just gets roped into that dysfunctional dynamic? Also, the random CIA girl who kicked *** for one scene and then was gone? That was super random. She must be coming back in a future installment.

Thought The Movie Was Solid. Action Was Great And Kept Up Throughout.

Was A Bit Shocked By The Ending. Still Looking Forward To Future Bond Films.

No Time To Die was exceptional! From beginning to end it was engrossing. Definitely a fitting end to the Daniel Craig era.

Thoroughly enjoyed the movie last night. Definitely up there with casino royale and Skyfall.

I have a feeling they shot and edited some scenes after COVID hit because they made references to a pandemic even though the movie was originally due to release in March of last year

Malek's character showed promise in the opening scene. Could've been the best Bond villain ever but as the movie went on, his character wasn't as badaxx as I hoped. I wanted more from the character. Like cold and calculating like Bond. Just gave off the impression of a weak person trying to play a bad guy

One thing I noticed is Craig's bond is always in Italy for some reason. Like he's more Italian than British

The ending was wild and wasn't expecting it.

I have a feeling the next or next next Bond might possibly be a woman

I legit might go back and just watch it for the Ana scene.

Finally watched it last night. Great movie and finale to the Craig-Bond Era.

Ana de Armas and Léa Seydoux.

Mini rant: Went to watch this Sunday night 2 weeks ago. Thought a Sunday night at 9 pm would be chill. Only 3 other people besides me were watching it until a group of teenagers walked in. They were loud and talking during the movie. They were playing music and tiktok videos on their phones and would randomly run up the aisle to exit the room. They kept saying out loud they didn't have tickets. They finally left after 40-45 minutes. The rest of us were starting to get pissed off. I was kinda close to finding an employee to get them kicked out.
