Not understanding the reviews about the production...

a lot of people who have listened to the album, A LOT of people...have been amazed by his production.
A lot of my friends who weren't even Cole fans listened and said they love it, that the beats slap.

I'm still holding out for at least an amazing quality to listen to...but im shocked that so many people love the album based on one day of spins and NT seems to hate it...

pretty crazy.

VERY boring album. Let Nas Down, Trouble, N's Know and She Knows are the only track that stands out so far. First spin and seems like replay value is already out the window. Production is super average.

Crazy because all I've been hearing for the past year or so is how Cole's production has improved.

Will give it a listen today.

Who else feels the same about the production?

Everyone all over the internet is blown away by his production improvements.
I got people all ove IG and Twitter goin crazy over these tracks.
Not talkin about just Cole 'stans'...but regular dudes and girls spinnin this album constantly.
Its crazy.

Im pretty :\ by the NT reviews, but I'm still gonna give it my own objective spin soon.
Im gonna wait a little longer... I'm not listening to some crappy radio rip of the album.
Of course the production aint gonna seem all that when youre listening to it in low quality.
I wanna hear it mixed and mastered from front to back.

Man maybe I wanted to hear his story, but this album is nice. I love the production. Its simple, but once again its his story that got me. Like how music should be, especially hip hop the words should be what gets you. This is off of no expectations though. Way better than sideline.

It's not crazy at all NT is filled with cats who rahter be entertained by "funny" rappers than have someone actually spit with meaning.

My problem w/ it is he didn't come w/ anything new, it's like I've heard all these songs before (from him).

I said this a few weeks ago and some dude came at my head. From the reviews, I can see it'll be pretty much the same with a few gems sprinkled in. He needs to break up with his girl and get some new material. :lol

I'm glad my expectations aren't too high for it so I'll be able to enjoy it.

I am a little hesitant to give my feedback on the album after running through it one time with a less than ideal quality dl. The true test for me is in my car with CDQ.

I also kinda wish ppl wasnt so quick with throwing reviews out left and right because they can easily sway ppl's opinion prior til hearing the album for themselves.

Overall I am feeling the album tho. He surprises me on some of these tracks but there are a few "????" spots.

I feel like this stereotype is a cop out.

I actually LOVE it!!!

3 spins of it all at work and love every aspect!!!

Production is nice to me and lyrics of course are there!! Can't wait to cop CDQ!!

Go on twitter, reviews are great. Go on NT, album is boring/bad :\

I'm holding out though

Im holding out too.
Im not gonna have my first experience of this album be some radio rip quality bull crap.

But yeah, if you take a look around the internet and look at MULTIPLE sources
you start seeing that in general NT has higher expectations than most people.
I think NT expects illmatic anytime a rap album comes out.

But i respect the opinions, im looking forward to giving my own once i listen.

Exactly...every other forum I go to people are saying the production>>>actual lyrics

Listened to the album a couple times, but just deleted it off of my computer so that I can just anticipate the June 18th date. Album is dope as hell...not sure where all of the hate is coming from. Production wise I give the album a 9/10. Lyrically 7.5/10. Standouts for me are the intro, trouble, runaway, she knows(grew on me), Mo Money interlude, Let Nas Down, Chaining Day, and Born Sinner. Light years ahead of CW:SS

I feel like this stereotype is a cop out.

It really isn't tho usually stuff comes out that has good lyrics and on point production (Outside of rap Legends and GKMC) usually comes out and people are calling it trash.... and then i listen and it's great.

People on here say stuff like all New Ye is garbage, Hov ain't had a hot album in years, Pusha ain been hot since he left the clipse, Jeezy Fell off, Lupe is trash etc etc..

Those same cats is begging for gunplay verses, claiming Ross is the best in rap, Bumpin Whatever Trap rapper is hot at the moment claiming they make the best music (Until 6 months pass and their on to the next)

In my experience NT seems to be a bizarro world in terms of music. I would say 70% of the times i hear bad reviews for something on NT it's usually reallly good & usually what NT hype's up to be hot turns out being highly mediocre, but that's just me

not listening to **** until I cop the album.....want this **** to be like the old days....

I feel you. I guess its because I've seen the same thing said many times and its almost like NT'ers aren't supposed to say something is wack. I'm never quick to call something wack because sometimes it does take a while for something to grow on me, for example Mr. Nice Watch.

I respect your guys' opinion, but to say this album isnt any good is very hard for me to believe. Gave it a full spin last night and really liked it and I'm no Cole stan by any means.

About to give it another listen in the car in a bit and see if I feel the same

I think those saying the album is "bad" are being way too harsh. I would say the album is average to good...not great but then again I have to give it at least 2 more listens.

So if you think it's boring you get written off as somebody who only like ignorant rap? :lol

I've been a fan of Cole since the Warm Up, probably have downloaded every one of his songs, and this album just sounds real half-assed to me.  The beats dont have that same soulful feeling and his bars seem to be lazy at times.

I just know this is the same dude who made "I Get Up", "Premeditated Murder", "Lost Ones", "Dreams", "2Face" etc.  So I know he has it in him to bring that A+ quality rap.....and this album isn't it.

Listened to album 1 time, it's not bad, 8/10...lyrically on point but leaves you let down with his production/hooks...He kinda got Nas syndrome, lyrically fire but terrible beats...Kind feeling like a sophmore slump and Truly Yours 2 is what album should of been like

I would have to agree with this 100%. As I stated earlier I too feel Cole can do better lyrically and especially with some of the hooks on this album.

I want to listen to it so bad but I gotta wait till the 18th to support the fellow North Carolinian

never understood waiting to listen to an album....if u listen now it will be the same as listening on drop date.
