Does jewelers actually charge the price of gold by the charts daily? I mean I check it everyday...

I have this one lady that still sells me gold at $22 a gram (not a custom jeweler) for francos and cubans.

I thought that they measured francos by the thickness of one side, not the combined widths of each side. Why would a 5mm franco be equivalent to a9mm cuban if they are the same width?
