The clown is more of a metaphor, in the book "it" was something from outer space that prayed on your fears. So it took the shape of anything really.
Can't wait to see what they do with this.
You coulda spoilered that man. Still good to know because the ending of the OG movie always confused me lol
never got into reading horror books or nonfiction books in general lol..but this sounds interestingI read the book as well, which goes in-depth with regards to It's motivations.
Cliffs:
[Dpoiler]It's a space monster from another dimension
It feeds on human emotions
Children are more emotionally "pure" than adults so It prefers children
Appearing as a clown is the easiest way to draw in children
It is telepathic; when a child is drawn in, It reads the kid's mind to take on the scariest possible form (your worst fear). Another reason for the preference for kids is because children's fears are more concrete and easy to represent (Frankenstein, boogeyman, etc) [/spoiler]
The book scared the **** out of me (the old movie too). Don't think I'm gonna watch this. The shook is real.
The movie might not go as far into the background as that. Some of it ties into King's Dark Tower novels and it gets really convoluted
I wouldn't consider it a spoiler but I'll tag it. My bad
