Is Peyton Manning the most overrated qb of all time?

He's a good reg season qb playoffs... Not so much. Won't surprise me if Brady Big Ben or even Rivers beat him in divisional round

Why'd you say 'even rivers' like it hasn't happened before?
:lol

Peyton Manning isn't the most overrated QB of all time

Brett Favre and Phillip Rivers come to mind first but thats no knock on them

Favre? Dude won 3 str8 MVP's & a SB in the 90's. Don't let the flip flopping retirement & the end of his career fool ya.

His turnover rate turns people off (me included) from being a top 5 all time great IMO

Anywhere from #5-10 is fine w/ me but he's far from being overrated. 90's were so tough w teams like Cowboys, Packers, 49ers & Denver. They actually let u play defense & hit the QB back then too. Now the rules & stats are so skewed towards offense that even Matt Flynn & Ryan Fitzpatrick can throw 6 TDs each lol

I think it was infinitely harder to play Quarterback in the 1980s and 1990s then today

If you've read my posts you know I fully agree but his turnovers were high for the era (going off memory) for an elite QB. I have him top ten, just not top 5.

And it was harder but it was truly 'infinitely' harder pre 78

Favre was the gunslinger. There wasn't a throw dude thought he couldn't make. I think a lot of those interceptions were off his ego thinking he could force a throw that wasn't there because of how hard he threw.

knew it...Jaws would be in here ASAP after Favre's name was dropped :lol

and favre is not overrated IMO...no one usually calls him a top 3 guy, at least not that i know of

**** it. You're right. He's my dude. Everyone's got somebody they cape for.

Someone on this board said it first and I'll rep him if he comes in to claim it, but he pretty much nailed it when it comes to Peyton and the greatest ever talk: Pre-snap, Peyton is hands down the greatest of all-time. I think that's 100% spot on. I believe it's totally fair to break it down that way, which to me, disqualifies him from any overrated talk if you keep it within that context -- The QB position is as complex as they come, so there needs to context with certain variables of the position.

Relative to his elite peers and just winning rings period, I can hear the argument though.
