Apple is expected to launch bigger iPhone and iPad models this year, as well as a first ever smartwatch model – unofficially referred to as the iWatch – and DisplaySearch (via CNET) already has some predictions regarding the kind of displays Apple may use on its upcoming devices. The researchers mention two iPhone 6 sizes including 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches, which could have LCD displays with 1600 x 900 resolution (386 pixel-per-inch density or PPI,) and 1920 x 1080 resolution (401 PPI), respectively. Moving to the bigger 12.2-inch iPad model, DisplaySearch says the tablet could sport an LCD screen with 2732 x 2048 resolution (265 PPI), while the iWatch is expected of pack either a 1.3-inch 320 x 320 (348 PPI) flexible AMOLED display, or a 1.6-inch 320 x 320 (278 PPI) flexible AMOLED display.

The research company also mentions several other displays for a variety of other devices, from smartphones to TVs. DisplaySearch says that 2014 high-end smartphones may pack LCD/AMOLED displays measuring from 5.7-inch to 6.2-inch, with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 (515 or 474 PPI depending on the size), and sees low-powered ultra-slim tablets packing 10.5-inch AMOLED displays with 1920 x 1200 resolution (216 PPI). High-resolution tablet displays (from 8.4 to 12.2 inches) for Samsung’s new Pro line of Galaxy Tablets are also listed.

Even though DisplaySearch released its note based on the “many new display sizes, resolutions and features” seen at CES 2014, the researchers noted that not all products it listed may actually launch this year, and that there will be other panels that will hit mass-production on top of the ones it included in its note. However, the company concludes, that “with so many new panels models launched in 2014, it will be a year for display innovation.”

A bigger screen is always in the rumor mill each year...

Def due for a new iPhone tho, might wait off and upgrade to the 6

Bigger, faster, & stronger. I'm in. I wonder what the next gimmick will be. Probably a built in projector with speakers in the front.

Funny.. I just finished watching a Steve Jobs biography on Netflix and thinking to myself, I would like to buy an iPhone and support American products, but I'm not down with the current screen size....

Then I log onto NT and see this thread.

Funny.

Have a 5S and I'm in.

And IDC what anyone says, the thumbprint reader is fantastic and saves me time every single day since my studio's security locks our phones immediately and requires super strong passwords.
