How much longer will Kobe be a top 5 player??

There's a lot going on here, but here is what I think. Kobe will always be top 5 until he retires, b/c Kobe has a unlimited repitoire of ways to break downa defense. The older he gets the more savvy he becomes and will beat you other ways that maybe he wouldnt be able to do athletically.

As far as people thinking he is physically declining this year, I somewhat notice that too. However, we have to remember that the past few years he has hadsquat to work with on his team, and now he finally has teammates that can carry some of the load, so he doesn't have to do as much. Actually its not thathe doesn't do as much, he just doesn't score as much. He does more in other aspects of the game because he no longer has to worry about scoring 60 agame just so the Lakers can keep it close.

LOL
I dare you to name 10 players better than Kobe in the past 15 years.

He's a really active and strong guy. I don't see him slowing down until he's at least 36 or 37 years old.

But trying to be real I think it'll be 35/36 when he starts the decline and 37/38 when he hangs it up.

Kobe is NOT going to stay in the league for that long.

Not everyone thinks hes a top 5 player
Most likely the same "everyone" who makes a career of being a message board clown with bad predictions, cheers for injuries and badtalent evaluations. Not to mention posting in the past how Kobe would never win a scoring title or an MVP (the things that supposedly made Iverson better).

It'll be a sad day when Shaq says goodbye.

I'd say Kobe has at least 5 years at/near the top. LeBron on the other hand.

what makes you think Kobe isn't going to stay in the league another 6 or 7 years

I think he can do it till he's in his late 30's. He's still got all his ups, most players lose that by his age

That is what the roster should look like next year and beyond. Damn perfect.

I expect Farmar to take over the starting role eventually, maybe late next season, and have Fish play fewer minutes and all that stuff. A little B Shaw in his game eventually.

Kobe shouldn't need to go balls out for 80 games a season anymore, though he should play in more playoff games each year then he has the last 3. So in theory, he should save a little wear and tear on himself while the rest of the team does more heavy lifting then Laker fans are used to. Since Kobe is a driven man, and wants to not only try to get more rings, but also his individual goals, he should play high level for at least 5 years, with maybe 2 or 3 lower level years to get his credentials up.

They need to start locking a few guys up to make sure this roster reaches it's full potential of growth and development. The only thing that could derail all this is either injury, or players getting lazy after the contracts though. So hopefully, we can sign everyone, but still keep them hungry and improving.

Do it Mitch.

a starting lineup like that all under 30...sounds good to me!
