How much do you pay for your haircut? (IG barbers going crazy)

I left out a word, I mean "I've never seen a taper treated as just part of a line up." Taper was always a seperate charge from lineup.

got you.

my issue is him making a conspiracy out of it by suggesting people are requesting it in an effort of avoiding the price of a full cut. its not that deep.

neither a taper or lineup alone has ever been the price of a full haircut, now it is because 🥷🏾.

this current trend of locs on top, fade on the bottom should not be the same price as a full haircut. but 🥷🏾 and economics/ business is like oil and water.

i recently switched up to a Dominican spot. same cut, regular pricing, not this $50+ garbage.

Fade/taper/beard is running me $65 :{
Dude has his own shop and is a childhood friend of a friend and smokes me out when I drop by at least but these prices are wild. I tried a few other local barbers and they don't do the quality of work he does though.

go to a Dominican spot and report back

my spot dont even speak english, cash only, late 90s-early 2000 prices

$60. Get cut once a month.

Used to be $30, but then my barber started getting hella busy and his schedule fills up quick.

Most people need to understand, that no matter if it's minimal work, if a certain hairstyle becomes popular within our culture, prices are going to be raised on it,simply because the demand is there. That's why it's funny to me, to see people say, im going to grow my hair out, so i can avoid paying these high haircut prices.

Then they're still paying the same amount of money on a taper, because everybody and their mommas, want that same type of cut. It's only a win win, if you know how to cut your own, no matter if you have long or short hair. If regular edge ups, along with beards or goatees shaped and edged up, became popular. Then they charge $30 and more for only edge ups.

Also, dont believe for one second, that these barbers are charging these high prices, to all of their customers. Ive seen cats charge from $15 to $45, depending on who the costumer is.

The customer who pulls up in a decent expensive car, who talks about how much he makes per year, and which nice neighborhood he stays in. Is definitely getting taxed way more, in comparison to the local guy, who walked their from around the corner.

I cut my own hair. Fades last 3-4 days for me cuz my hair grows fast. I'd be tight paying all that money to a barber for it to only last 3-4 days

The major issue is how the barbers go about these price increases, not that they are having price increases.

Let's be real here, nothing is the same price it was 15 years ago. Everything in your life has gotten more expensive. Gas, cell phone bill, clothes, shoes, etc. Why do you expect your barber to keep the same prices they did in 2009? Every other product and service has gotten more expensive.

Where the barbers fail is that they have these crazy price hikes at once. When I worked in tech, our software got more expensive every year but they kept it reasonable with 5%-7% annual price increases. This allowed our company to increase margins and keep up with the rate of inflation. Also, these price increases were more palatable to customers and they rarely pushed back. I've seen barbers literally double their prices overnight.

They should go from $25 one year, to $28 the next and $32 after that, etc. Of course your customers are going to complain or leave if you go from $25 today to $50 the next.

In Atlanta. I’ve paid $100 minimum for a while (decade plus) now. Skin fade and beard. Prices have gone up as each of my barbers got more successful.

What’s even more wild is the demand isnt too different from the $45 days  I still can’t get in if I don’t schedule a week before

I’ve tried and failed to find replacements. They either:
- Get the blend wrong on the fade
- I decline the spray and they overcompensate by pushing my line way back
- Get the details wrong (1 sideburn skinny, the other wide, etc)

I’d love to pay less but it’s difficult.

I’d do it myself but my guys get me in 25 mins. It’d take me hours, then several years before I ever get efficient at it.

I still pay $15 (12+3tip) at the Chinese spot. Dudes don't even speak English lol.

I haven't gotten roasted in real life yet.. all that matters
Take my boys to China town. Cuts 8$ plus tip. Old lady gets her nails for 16 lol

My brother asked a barber how much to cut his son head (he only 2.5 yrs old) barber said $28. My brother said naw I'm good. I don't blame him either.

I just got a flyer for a brother out my way who's only charging $25 a cut.

When I cut my hair I must say eff it and go to a barber college.

Prices are outta control but the main issue is that the quality isn’t matching the price. Barbers been too obsessed with giving out these “fang” c-cups and quick to reach for some spray. I just want a clean quality cut with minimal push back. I’m not a celebrity who maintains a push back by getting cuts every 4-5 days.

Also, when you finally find a good barber they give you an amazing first couple cuts to reel you in then start to get lackadaisical.

You still have hair? What kinda cuts you get? Is a light Caesar even popular anymore
Yeah grew it for a few years then cut it back in February. Went back to the taper with waves. Was getting charged $45 every 3 weeks :{ started growing it back out in April

Damn! $45 bucks is nasty work for a haircut ere 3 weeks. I think I can wear a beanie at work so that’s how ima hide my hair but just keep my face up to par

I went from getting a haircut once a week, to every 2 weeks, to now once a month. My schedule goes

Retwist for $150. This includes, wash, cut, and style.

2 weeks later I get a line up for $20.

2 weeks after that I get a cut $45.

2 weeks another line up $20

Then another 2 weeks I get a retwist and we repeat. So if my math is correct I spend about 1400 a year on my hair. It's ridiculous. Granted I do skip weeks occasionally in the winter and summer. Really depends on how much I got going on.
