How Can Someone Not Watch The News Because It's Too Negative?

I don't watch the news, and my life is exponentially better...what would the nightly news need to teach me? that I should take an umbrella for the morning commute?
the info is out there if you need it...no need to listen about crime, murders, celebrity gossip.

I live in San Diego, occasionally when i watch the news you hear about kids in the community doing something in the town just to even out any "negativity" shown.
However, if i go down to mexico and my fam is watching the news "Primer Impacto" its always "17 new bodies have been found hung off the near
bridge yesterday *cues camera showing mutilated bodies close up*"
Thats all you hear about and i wouldnt watch it if i lived down there.

easy. i stopped watching local news years ago. the irony is, i find local news to be ignorant and negative. the newscasters switch between cornball comments and negative news.

Cause everything on the news is about how bad the economy is. EVERY day the same thing gas prices, jobs all that. You cant get any enjoyment out of that.

Unless it's for the weather I don't watch it.I KNOW that there's foul things going on from the highest levels right on down to my own neighborhood (without watching the News),but sometimes the SPECIFICS of those things can really leave a negative stamp on your mental.

I am skeptical about what the media chooses to force feed us. I have always noticed that their content is about 90% negativity, which from what they will tell us , "humans want".
