Home Buying & Real Estate Thread

How do you guys about using a personal loan to purchase a house? Been fixing my credit and while trying to get pre approved the banks have been telling me don't don't give home loans for under 50k

Yeah I just found that out the hard way on an investment property.

Weren't they selling homes for a dollar or something? I think the caveat is that you have to renovate and live in the home within a certain timeframe after purchasing.

Wait hold the **** up
There's homes for under 50k in Detroit
There's whole blocks in Detroit for $50k.

I remember when I was doing REO's a few years back the joke was would you rather buy a car, or a house in Detroit.

They've been doing that everywhere.

Their govt is devaluing the **** out of their currency and business men are just looking for assets to park cash in so they don't loose half their net worth.

It's like when Iceland tanked and the jewelry stores were selling out of Rolexs lol. People trying to preserve value.

Maaaan Detroit ain't ever coming back
America honestly is like a damn parasite
Uses up all of the resources, people, and everything it can
Before discarding u and throwing whatever to the wayside
Like there's ZERO upside for America even wanting to make Detroit a place to live
It sucks
But it's the truth
All them damn houses are a restoration project
Which is cool
If u have the money to build a brand new house
Cause that's basically what u have to do
Those streets look like a damn ghost town
And the ones I saw that were actually good
We're like 330k which is also good
But man
What's in Detroit
Messed up school system
Ain't no jobs out there
Maaaaan **** gets me heated that the bay is so damn expensive and can't find something decent
There's 2 bedroom 1 bath homes with 900 sq ft for like 500k out here :{
America gets on my damn nerves man
My damn nerves
Why won't America just let me be great
I work
I pay taxes
I'm a good person/citizen
Why the **** does it have to make it so damn hard for folks who try and do the right thing
DAMN

EDIT: my bad I was just typing and didn't notice I was ranting :lol

I wouldn't say this is for the "Better".

Yea, I hear a lot of wealthy Middle Eastern cats are doing this too.

Man they been giving away houses in Detroit (in some cases literally, stories of dudes hanging around the courthouse with the deed in their hand just like someone take this so I can nove on in life) for over a decade. It's not just Detroit, Cleveland, Minneapolis, obviously the rust belt. I'm on mobile otherwise I'd post links. Just jump on trulia.com or realtor.com and do a search with the max price 15k. They're not nice houses or neighborhoodd, but "livable" which I guess it subjective based on standards. I wouldn't bet on it coming back anytime soon. I remember making the joke in like 04 they could use it as the background in movies for when they need to show like post apocalypse or destruction or something then found out they are actually doing that.

Derric Coleman put 6 million into trying to bring it back, homes, shopping centers, movie theatres, etc and lost it all

Yea Detroit is a good long term investment if you have the time and $$$ to fix up and sit on a crib for a min ...until its investment throughout the whole city n not just the downtown area you basically gon own property in a horrible/undesirable location

nah, unless you are the type of investor who can buy up blocks of land it aint worth buying a bando just to sit on it lol. The businessmen buying up detriot are buying enough where they could "create" their own mini cities, but the thing is getting people there being that detroit lacks an economy pretty much. Its a different situation from a neighborhood in a city that is doing ok and you invest in it, from what I understand Detroit as a whole is a mess.

Yea u right ,ain't nobody coming for no mini city's if everything around that is ratchet :lol ...they tried that here but it resulted in people's houses basically being an island or nice fixed up cribs with nobody to move in em ...I wouldn't mind buying a dirt cheap spot if I had the bread tho , if the city gets better that's a come up and if not the loss wouldn't be anything serious like playing the lotto or gambling if I'm rich :lol

Exactly

Why it might work with the Chinese is they have groups of 10-20 investors that all build their own mini cities so you have a pretty good lot of land and if the whole city appreciates then they all win because they have the best places that would rent for the most. But if it doesnt then you lost maybe 100k-500k. Thats nothing if you have 20 million or 30 million dollars. They spend that on a weekend car for their kids.

If you are a business person with a team of investors then cool y'all have enough resources to pop something off, but as one person just buying 1-4 bandos aint going to do much lol. Detroit has a huge infrastructure problem also from what I have heard. The most the avg person could do when it comes to detroit is try to form an investment group with like minded people and create economic "boom" districts, but still you have to deal with the lack of infrastructure. 100 people buying bandos and starting small business isn't enough to get the state to see incentive in investing in the cities infrastructure compared to a group of Foreign billionaires buying up stuff and creating mid size businesses.
