I have my booster shot scheduled in about an hour. I’m really hoping it doesn’t lay me up in bed for 24 hours with fever, and the whole body aches like the 2nd shot did….Granted it’s better than being in a hospital bed.

With all the good stuff Kyrie does for other people, you’d think he’d have enough sense to get his shot by now. But, I just recently learned he’s a flat earth fool too, so I guess it doesn’t surprise me.

Overall, 76% of Americans eligible for a shot of COVID-19 vaccine have received at least one dose, and 66% are fully vaccinated.

Sometimes I wish there was less focus on a minority of loud morons than what there is. I mean, I get it. Everything is all about clicks and web traffic these days and those stories probably get lots of views. There needs to be a better way of doing business than that though.

Would like to see us make it to 70 + percent vaccinated towards the end of the year. More than that would obviously be better, but that probably ain't realistic.

In general, the fully vaccinated people who are dying have been the frail elderly and those with serious comorbidities, especially immune compromised for whom the vaccines are ineffective. If you are fully vaccinated the best thing you can do is work on your general health and well-being. And obviously remain vigilant by wearing a quality mask and avoiding large indoor gatherings, among other common sense non-pharmaceutical interventions.

I received email from my manager said he and his wife are tested positive. I know he is fully vaxxed. He started having symptoms on Wednesday, and just got the result on Friday. Another breakthrough cases. Cannot believe from all the people in the office, he'd be the one who got it. That triggers me to set up an appointment for the booster in 2 weeks. I'll also get flu shot this coming Tuesday. I purposely separate it out just in case. I asked my coworker who already got booster. She said she did not feel any side effect. But again, she didn't feel anything either on her 2nd dose. She's in the older age bracket.

Anybody had both flu and booster shots yet?

Does your manager seem good about mask wearing and not taking unnecessary risks? I’m convinced that indoor dining is leading to many cases among those who think they’re taking precautions.

Saw on instagram my friend's gf posted about her friend passing away. Was 31 weeks pregnant and got covid. Had an emergency C-section then put in an induced coma and put on a ventilator. Both lungs collapsed and her heart stopped. She also had a 2 year old son. My family has been so lucky not to have lost anyone.

Update from my booster on Friday afternoon...The nurse who game it to me was an older gal, must have been doing it awhile, because i didn't feel it at all! Arm wasn't sore until about 4-5 hours later.

Slammed a Liquid IV drink when I got home, & drank a bunch of water, per her recommendation. All day Saturday I was sore, probably a 5-6/10, but not near as bad as my 2nd shot. Temp was 99.8 at the highest point, a slight headache all day, and a slight sore throat. Just kinda felt like an "under the weather/coming down with a cold" type of feeling.

Feeling completely back to normal today! Per my Whoop, my HRV was a bit lower than what it has been lately, nothing crazy. My Respiratory rate was also a bit higher than normal, but nothing alarming.

Was working in the vaccine centre yesterday - and it was nuts. It was the first day of flu, third doses for immunocompromised patients, and boosters for other slightly more vulnerable. For most of the day the wait was a couple of hours.

At about 6:00 we were looking at the line winding round the building and all saying “there is no way we’re finishing at 7:30” but with a few extra staff moved from other sites we made it. Was a tough day though - that combination means you had to do a lot more thinking - we have a surplus of Moderna so everyone is getting that (except second doses and under 18s) but the third dose is a full dose and the booster is half and there are 2 different flu vaccines depending on the patient’s age… A lot of the patients were very elderly and that makes the whole thing take tons longer - they all seemed to have an overcoat, a cardigan, a long sleeved shirt with tight sleeves and a few layers under that! They’d been waiting that long but waited until they were sitting in front of me before undoing a single button.

Makes the time go fast when it’s like that though - my 12 hour shift was over in no time.

Yes, the third dose is at least 8 weeks following full vaccination - most of those were people who had been undergoing cancer treatment (or were going to start shortly), or other categories like transplant patients - they get a full dose of Moderna. The only complication was a lot were invited get eg weekly biologic immunosuppressants and we had to send them away to get specialist advice - we could only do it 2 weeks after that sort of treatment and the system wasn’t clever enough to not invite them.

Then the boosters were a half dose of Moderna (or a full Pfizer - but it’s Moderna at the moment because we have a lot) and that has to be 6 months after the second dose of any vaccine. That is for the usual slightly more vulnerable categories (over 50s, asthma, diabetes…), carers for vulnerable people, and healthcare workers.

The demand for that one is okay - because it’s 6 months post second dose the input is fairly steady - the problem with the 3rd doses is that at the moment it includes everyone who had it done from 2-6 months ago - but that should stabilise in the next few weeks.

After the fiasco yesterday they’ve also released a lot more shifts in that centre which will help. I’ll know next weekend when I’m back.
