Harbor City
Culver City
Lakewood
Inglewood

have good areas, that are on the cheaper side.
ESPECIALLY CULVER CITY
when i was looking to move out, me and my girl found nice places for cheap, just make sure you find out about local gangs etc. i mean gangs are everywhere in LA, but you dont want to move to an area where they are heavily active you know? like i live in san pedro, and its a small town, and we have a bunch of gangs, but the gangs know each other, so they only every mess with each other, not random people. if that makes sense.

also, gangs arent like in movies, but i do reccomend finding out about local sets and stuff, just to know. its good to be informed, you feel me?

I second the move to Culver City. It is basically of suburb of LA that is located in the middle of LA, i guess thats the best way to explain it. I used to work in Culver City and it is a very safe place. I never say gang members around, let alone people looking for trouble. You can be in Hollywood in 10-15 mins, same goes w/ the beach.

As mentioned Vegas is great for a couple of days, but the place is an absolute money pit. Your rent may be cheaper but you will blow money at casinos, strip clubs, etc. no matter how hard you try not too. While i've never lived in Vegas (just vacays) I currently live in AZ for school, and let me tell you summers in the desert are a living hell.

Good luck in your move man!
Culver City is expensive as hell. You are looking at 2000 for a 2 bedroom. To say you dont want to live in gang neighborhood in LA is to say you dont want to live in Los Angeles.
i'm not even from the city and i know that's not true
any more help???

Man don't worry about that dude you'll be alright. Like meeks said just be aware of where you want to stay. Also, adding to the list of cities Meeks gave you, norwalk, cerritos, and downey are also pretty good cities to live. You should be able to find a affordable apartment to stay at. Also, those cities hardly have any gangs. However, most cities have there good sides and there bad sides.

Los Angeles for sure, if you're moving there. Hell, even consider San Diego over Vegas, went to college there and loved it down there.

Vegas is good for vacations, and when you live in SoCal you'll definitely have a lot of chances to spend a few weekends there every year and party/gamble/whatever you wanna do there. It's not a bad city either, but I don't think it comes close to SoCal in terms of a place to settle down, unless you're really looking to save money and your job is located in Vegas.

Culver City is nice but it is going to run you around 1,500-1,800 for a 2 bedroom in a decent Culver City location. Gangs don't exist everywhere in LA but primarily around section 8 and government subsidized housing, which does exist in one section of Culver City. There are good and bad parts of every neighborhood whether it be Santa Monica, Venice, or Inglewood.

If I were you I would move towards the area of loz feliz, silver lake, echo park, maybe Eagle Rock or North Hollywood. The valley is pretty boring and having to commute in LA is a nightmare. These areas are where most of the adults in their 20's are moving as other areas get to pricey. If you want to be by the beach instead of stores and partying, I'd look at Hawthorne or Westchester.

LA has different scenes tho, so it all really depends on what your feeling.
