HBO's The Night Of

Weird how they didn't start the episode where it left off.
I'm positive they will play what happened between them later. They either talked or something went down.

In the off chance that stone is the killer maybe he wanted to **** the dude up cause he knows stone did it? Reaching like ish cause stone of all people keeping someone quite lol.

An informant? What? :rollin

It's not like Nas was the one looking for trouble. He's just doing what's best to survive.

Step Father is responsible.

Naz though, a few more nights of 3 hots and a cot(with a side of crack), and he will have made a home he has no intention of leaving.

I don't want to be that guy in this thread but I guess someone has to be...

This was THE WORST episode of the series and is making me question the entire show even more (in a bad way). I've got a laundry list of complaints from this episode.
  • Stone's feet. Again. If this is just a plot device it's worn beyond thin. Getting his feet cured and telling his support group buddies seems all so unrelated to the rest of the show. 8 episodes and every episode 10 minutes is spent on Stone's feet. His feet better be the motherf'n murder weapon smh. Same goes for the cat every damn ep. The fact that he's allergic yet randomly took the cat in had better be meaningful otherwise its just another in a long list of implausible things.
  • Naz getting a tattoo and doing drugs in jail. There's ignorant, there's dumb, and then there's Naz. Caught in the middle. Is he really this stupid or is he ignorant to the perception of him cutting his hair, tattooing "sin" on his knuckle, etc. I can understand him getting in fights and doing things he needs to do to protect himself but the tats and drugs were unnecessary. He's making so many bad moves it seems unbelievable...and it is.
  • The trial is in motion and Box is just now checking Naz's Facebook. What? They would've checked that weeks ago. This is a high profile capital murder case and he's supposed to be the smart detective and they're just now interviewing people who knew him.
  • The black mortician talking like he's the killer was in the theme of things that just weren't believable this episode. A woman dies, a man is on trial for her murder, and here you are, a witness seen on camera following her car, talking like she got what she deserved. A black man no less. GTHOH! His creepiness was very contrived.
  • The Indian attorney chick questioning the black guy all by herself. You just watched this guy on camera follow the car. He potentially is the murderer, whether you believe your client to be innocent or not. What if he was the killer? Now you're either dead or he's in the wind. This is the same bullisht that happened with Stone chasing Duane Reed, except more unbelievable. There's not a female defense attorney out that would do that. Certainly not a young one.
  • Naz played for his high school basketball team. Really? This same character that you're showing us who was the tutor for some next ball players in episode one? We don't believe you, you need more people smh.
  • Contrived sexual tension between Stone and Indian bae. So she breaks up with her boyfriend and all of a sudden there's sexual tension with this goofy dude with itchy feet? Come on b. If he hits I'm gonna be TIGHT.
  • The delivery guy is Naz's dad and of all the places he could be delivering to he delivers to her door. Deus ex machina much?
  • The Prosecutor gave the most monotone openings of all time. She sounded like she didn't even believe herself. This is an experienced prosecutor in a capital murder case. She's done this dozens of times in theory and this time the spotlight is on the case and its in the media. Her opening would've been at least 10-15 minutes and way more detailed. Even if they didn't want to give all that screen time to opening statemets they could've eluded to it being way longer than it was.
  • In the same vein as the last bullet, Indian bae's opening was piss poor and short as hell too. Granted she's inexperienced but they made it seem like she worked all night only to have a paragraph literally anyone could've came up with. Cases are won and lost on powerful openings and closings. No attorneys trying big murder cases would ever take them for granted.
  • Again, the trial is in motion and Stone is just now checking the property records to see who owned the house the victim died in. No one thought to check this? Really? And then this leads to the guy executing the estate who basically implicates the father-in-law as a likely suspect. All of this would've and should've come out way sooner. Like before trial sooner. "Over my dead body." Talk about lack of subtlety in writing.
This is most of what I caught in one pass through. All bad smh. I'm happy this is only 8 episodes. I'm only still following for sake of completing it.

:rollin can't wait to read this, but because I'll probably agree with you and the post let me say this before reading.

This wasn't the worst ep, it was the best in a while because, no open with Stone in the Dr office with his feet and, they actually spent the majority of the ep outside the walls of the prison.

I hate that ******* prison scene man.

Your complaints grew more tedious, nitpicky and silly as they went on man.

Attorneys on both sides question witnesses about cases alone ALL THE TIME. You must be fuming when you watch any Law & Order ep :lol Plus all that vid shows is Naz taxi leaving then that dude leaving in the same direction. No proof that he followed them. I mean let's go back to ep 1 did they go directly to her place after that or are we to believe dude followed them around all night. So before talking to dude there's no reason to assume he's the killer when they stop at a gas station nowhere near her house.

There is no sexual tension b. Yall dudes grasping for straws. At best Stone made a pass at her. I saw no reciprocation on her end. There's more sexual tension with Naz and the Indian lawyer.

As far as the facebook stuff and Box, I got the impression months had passed during this ep. Like a lot of time. So it's not really clear when he checked his online activity u less you want to believe Stone's eczema cleared up in a few day

:lol @ still complaing about Stone's feet. I hope the cure was temporary.

^^^Plus, just last ep we saw how Box triangulated Naz' whereabouts by his cell phone.

They will be able to do the same with the limo driver to see if he followed them.

I know Ravage is an attorney, it's funny because your complaints about the investigation/lawyers scenes damn near echo my friends thoughts, she's an attorney also. :lol

Yea @RavageBXI agree with almost none of your complaints.

I thought Naz getting the knuckle tattoo was odd, but not the smoking crack or shoulder tattoo, those made sense to me, him denying the shirt didn't, though.

I didn't notice much sexual tension other than acknowledging the possibility I might see mention of it as a "haha moment" for the thread and immediately disregarding it.

I actually think the "healed" feet scenes and the support group scenes were needed, and not annoying like in the past.

Still can't make heads or tails of the cat, but it's going to matter.

Him not playing Ball in college, eh makes sense, when they went to talk to his ex gym teacher after noticing the school change, even he said Nas was on the team but he didn't play him, of course he wouldn't play in college, he sucked.

And the opening statement from the prosecutor, I agree with how monotone and boring it was, that stood out to me BIG time, like they really picked the wrong woman for that role. Time is limited here as you mentioned, they could have done better, fail all around.

Naz pops showing up to deliver the food, meh, I thought it was pretty good writing in showing how much this trial should mean to the "newer lawyer" now that she sees the damage it is doing to the family.

I thought the "over my dead body" was cheesy, but again....I kind of appreciated it.

She is beautiful. Did you see those legs when she walked away from Stone?

sidenote: I don't like how disconnected they were as a team of lawyers trying a murder case.

This episode was dry, got me wanting to skip the next episode and just watching 7 and 8 back to back

Ravagebx! I like how you used the bullet points but don't forget to number them because your list was bananas. Now I'll try to convey with one of your arguments. I believe naz getting tattoos and doing crack is how the system can overcome you. At first I wondered what was it that Freddy really wanted with this kid, but it seems even more clear that his use of him is not for leverage, meaning gain by power but I think something more sinister. I don't know so I'll call it a hunch. So with that being said I believe the moral of the story will be that Freddy will have or get Naz killed, or he may even kill someone in the prison all while on the same day he will have been cleared of his conviction. As the show will show us how not the system but our stereotypes of people fail us many times in the court system.
Spoiler alert, these guys will get sued for copyright infringement for stealing the same plots and twists from the movie Zootopia. Thank you and good night everyone. Peace I'm out

- the cat is symbolism of Naz in jail

- first the cat was dropped off at the pound and all the other dogs were barking when it came in

- then Stone brought it home, but it's still locked up in the room and the only interaction it gets is when Stone feeds it, gives it toys, and changes the litter box

- especially how the cat was playing with the toys Stone kept bringing it made it seem like it was content with being confined in the room

- sort of how Naz is getting comfortable with being in prison with all the tattoos, drugs, etc.

But when does the cat swallow heroin or get acid thrown on it by another cat? When does the cat stomp on the cat that threw on acid him and then catch one male cat giving head to another male cat?

Interesting point you all made....Naz has no problems with getting tats or hitting the pipe, but turns down the shirt/tie. Strange.

I still think there's an angle w/ Freddie that hasn't (obviously) been explained yet.

In the Episode 7 preview, Box said "I prefer evidence over confessions." This is what got me thinking about Freddie being some sort of informant.

Maybe him hitting the pipe around Freddie will lead him to open up a little more about what happened on the night that Andrea was killed.

I dunno... :lol
