Saw it last night and I loved it.

Everybody was perfectly cast as the Guardians and the all the jokes hit and worked.

Groot was the #1 highlight imo, you get really attached to a tree that says only 3 (5 by the end) words pretty quickly.

Glad to see it do so well and everybody that I talked to thats seen it, loved it. Hopefully the word of mouth can keep it from having a dramatic 2nd week drop off.

Also really enjoyed you could tell this was pretty much all of Gunn's vision, from the writing to directing. Really makes me wish Wright stayed on for Ant Man since he was writing and directing too.

Right now I have it only behind Avengers as my favorite Marvel flick and tied with Cap 2, need to watch this and Cap 2 again soon.

Finally the soundtrack was A1, can't remember the last film soundtrack i enjoyed as much.

The movie was on another level visually but that's all it had going for itself. I remember when the comic-con trailer leaked last year and people were complaining about the humor saying it was corny and I kept saying how the humor was gonna be so great

But I do think the whole villains criticisms are cuz we're spoiled. Marvel hasn't been particularly bad with their villains just ranging from okay to pretty good.

Abomination served his purpose but I dont think he was a great villain.

Abomination was great when he was still Blonsky and did all those acrobatics to attack the Hulk and then got all the bones in his body broken Watching it made me feel that's how Spider-Man would fight Hulk (minus webs) except for the part when he gets beaten with one blow.

Abomination was good for what they did. I was much more intrigued with The Leader stepping up, guess not anymore.

With Thor none of his movies should be taking place on earth. That's such a cop out. He has his own world and other realms to deal with yet they continue to throw him next to darsy.

The best part in both Thor films was when they first went to the ice world. Everything else in both movies sucked

Hiddleston. And because his interractions with Thor are just...great

I look at it as Hiddleston playing Loki to perfection. He's supposed to have a sad backstory but his personality is just his personality and even though you don't wanna root for him, he still has a certain charisma. Just like any heel in wrestling. They may do things to make you hate them but they still have qualities you respect but at the end of the day, heels gonna be heels. If that makes sense.

Gotta understand the state Marvel was in back in the days.  Think they filed for bankruptcy or whatever so they didn't really have leverage in bargaining with anyone.

Lol no, you're misunderstanding. Marvel made a deal with Sony a decade ago yes. But there was recent renegotiation between Disney and Sony to make the terms of that arrangement even more beneficial for Sony.

You two are taking about two different deals.

Sony and Disney are very buddy buddy right now. Fox and Disney seem to be on each other's throats

It's only more beneficial if you think Disney just wants to make good Spidey movies that connect to their other movies.

There's more money in merchandise rights than movies. You make cheap plastic toys for a crazy amount that hundreds of millions go children buy. While movies cost hundreds of millions to make and there's always the risk that your profit doesn't double your budget and promotional fees.

….. but I don't believe in this rumor posted by sunshineblotters that's only comes from one person who really isn't an insider and the rumor hasn't been reported or rumored anywhere else. Last thing I've heard about that renegotiating was Marvel gave SONY a different contract as far as Spidey movie rights while Marvel got full merchandising, the animation/tv back.

TMNT is predicted to open at 39M. It might not even dent GotG. Movies so far this summer have been averaging a 60% drop between weekend one and two. It could be close between Guardians and TMNT next week.

Blaster stop it. I've played Marvel 2 in tourneys for 6 years and that game was insanely broken. Marvel 3 is broken too but it's such a clever game. Anybody literally has a chance and the character you picked complimented fighting styles way better. *sigh* I'm so depressed. Marvel is pissing me off now >:
