I can't believe tmnt is standing in the way of this film doing 250 mil and over. I wonder how this is faring overseas

I live in the Philippines and Michael Bay's trainwreck of my favorite childhood cartoon isn't even out here yet...the US films showing here are GotG, Hercules, and some of the older films. I'm sure it's raking in the dough out here.

Also after going throug the previous pages I gotta agree Batista was a perfect casting. Dude doesn't have personality so it fit extremely well :lol. Between GotG and that Ja Rule/RVD masterpiece, a star is born! :hat

Edit: reading back further, TMNT comes out the 8th? I assumed it was out already. It comes out here on the 13th, so another week of GotG domination

I forgot to commend those awesome *** spaceships that Nebula and Ronan were piloting in the Knowhere chase scene. In fact all the spaceships here were fun, cool lookin, and unique.

Box Office Saturday Late Night: ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Possible $95.5M

8th UPDATE, Saturday 10:41 PM: It looks to me like Guardians of the Galaxy will end the weekend on the high end of the estimate, possibly around $95.5M as late night numbers show that it’s down only about 15% from Friday, which would put the Saturday number at around $32M. With a 20% drop expected tomorrow, this would come in better than the 9 PM numbers showed. From the late night grosses I’m looking at right now, will be very, very close to Captain America: The Winter Soldier‘s $95M opening (that made, specifically $95,023,721 when it opened in April), and when the dust clears in the AM, Guardians could even beat it. Thanks to Disney/Marvel and director James Gunn, the weekend will be up about 38% from last year at this time when 2 Guns opened to $27M.

:Nthat

Welp. The cosmic side of Marvel is well on its way now. **** just got real.

Just watched Charlie's review. His guess as to which gems are which is the same as mine and most of this thread's

View media item 1112648

Also the artist who originated GotG was one of the artist involved in the original Howard the Duck run according to Charlie.

He also explains some easter eggs. I missed a couple. He even says who Nathan Fillion played

I started the playback at that point

two best screenshot worthy pics in the movie was when quill was flying outta jail thru space toward the ship

and @ the end reaching for his mom

saw the movie twice and each time i almost cried when he was in space with his mom reaching for him my mom died two years ago

I know those feels, man. Reminded me of seeing my mom in a hospital bed. My brother was sitting next to me and I think he teared up a little during the first scene. Didn't expect to see that type of scene.

Patiently waiting for a GOTG and Avengers team up. I can just imagine Peter and Tony cracking one liners at each other. Avengers 3 maybe ?

Feige and Gunn have not shut the door on the idea of a team up. They haven't openly confirmed it either.

Enjoyed the film.

Didn't think I would be that fond of groot on the big screen but turned out to be one of the strongest characters.

Grace Randolph says that something that takes away from Ronan is that you already know Thanos is scheming. I felt like most of the audience wanted Thanos to go to Xandar or wherever else and let Ronan know who's who.

Ronan was disappointing. I expected Ronan to be much better. One of the few bad guys in the comics that has consistently good story arcs.

Agreed on both accounts. But for time constraints I can see why the back story wasn't included. Ronan just didn't grab my attention except for a few scenes. Thanos def overshadowed him. I never read the comics so not sure how interesting he is.

Marvel has a chance to start a, dare I say, Star Wars type series.....

I felt like they passed up the opportunity to make thor more than just a summer movie and make it more lord of the rings like.

And when I say a____ like movie I mean truly immures us in a new word. Completely cut us off from reality and create something.
repped. I feel like they DID start a new Star Wars esque franchise. Great movie, loved it.

They were 15 mins short of the same time that TWS had. Had they spent the 15 mins going into the backstories (preferably the Thanos children's or Ronan's) i would have liked it better than Avengers.

All I have to say is...Kevin Bacon!

She was so cute when she said "we're just like Kevin Bacon" :lol. And all recent hype and nostalgia aside, this is still better than other space epics to me. Yes Star wars, Farscape, Star trek, firefly etc.

Or better intros to their world I should say.

If all the comic book movie franchises made up a high school,

The Avengers would be the cool kids group

The X-men would be the social outcasts

The GotG would be the high school delinquents

Spiderman would probably be the lone kid in the corner wondering why no one is playing with him

I thought Spidey is part of the Avengers.
