Goodbye, 2010 COLLEGE FOOTBALL SEASON - twas a great year,

SOS has been landing talent since he has been @ USCe and he has nothing to show for it. Safe to say that he isn't quite the coach he once was. If he can't put up elite offense
s @ USC, then how the hell could he do it w/ the talent that Boise gets?

Pelini has done a great job of revamping that D, which is his specialty, but that O has been horse****.

I don't know what's going on at Memphis. The rumors that were going around in July were very strong and they should have been invited by now but then again, they are rumors not facts for a reason. Villanova does indeed have a Big East offer. The Syracuse Post Standard confirmed it today via the Philadelphia Daily News:

The Philadelphia Daily News is reporting that the Big East Conference has issued an invitation to Villanova to upgrade its football program and join the conference.
"The Big East very recently communicated its interest in adding Villanova as a football member," Villanova athletic director Vince Nicastro told the Daily News yesterday. "As a result, we have decided to embark on an in-depth evaluation of this opportunity.

"As you might suspect, this is a complex issue, which entails many dimensions - both quantitative and qualitative. While we will move forward on this as quickly as possible, it is critical that all of those dimensions are vetted thoroughly prior to making any final decision."

The Big East, through a spokesperson, opted not to comment. But conference sources confirmed Nicastro's statement. Sources added that while no formal proposal has been made, if Villanova says yes, it will become a reality

Villanova is the defending Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA) champion, and is ranked No. 2 this season. The Wildcats played Division I-A football until 1980, when the program was disbanded.

The Big East has been seeking a ninth member for football for scheduling purposes, and a Villanova upgrade has been considered the ideal solution because it would keep the number of basketball teams at 16.

Where the Wildcats would play would be an issue:
Temple calls Lincoln Financial Field home. Sources said that makes it unlikely Villanova also would play there. Villanova Stadium has a capacity of 12,000, and the prospect of enlarging it apparently is not feasible. The NCAA requires 15,000 in actual or paid attendance for all home games for FBS schools. The attendance requirement must be met in 1 year over a 2-year period.

A viable venue is the new PPL Park in Chester, which holds 18,500 for Union soccer games. And there is room for a few thousand portable seats, as well as a potential for more permanent additions.

Other possibilities could include Franklin Field, and maybe even Citizens Bank Park (at least in November), now that Yankee Stadium and Wrigley Field are being used for college football.

According to the Daily News, if Villanova accepts it would become a full-fledged member of the conference in 2014 -- playing one more season at the FCS level followed by a mandatory two-year provisional period.

Maybe the Big East is hoping that Villanova could be the next UConn but there is a big difference between the two. Public v. Private. The state of Connecticut put hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars into improving UConn's facilities so that they could be a FBS program. Nova doesn't have that luxury. It shouldn't be ignored that the Wildcats won the 1-AA National Championship last year so that helps them somewhat.

Villanova is going to heavily upgrade facilities to meet D-1 Standards, such as adding 3,000 more seats to meet the minimum size stadium and they have to add 22 more scholarships to their team along with Women's teams, They have the players there currently to be a .500 team in the Big East, which could get them to a Bowl Game.
It always comes down to how much it'll cost, and if they have the funds to do so. If they can, they'll most certainly get it back within 3-4 years of playing in the Big East.

As a Villanova Fan, i'd love to see it.

Chris Peterson would coach Mack Brown and Greg Davis under the table.

If Peterson had UT talent, they don't lose to CU in 01, KSU in 06, or Tech in 08.
