I mean they're trying to make it some what modern, Original doom wouldn't have really translated to 2015 times... this movie still portrayed him to be reeds intellectual rival (with reed edging him out)
I dont think it was that bad.
There are million different directions they could have gone with Doom.

They could have easily gone the route of some arrogant genius kid from gypsieland who only gave a **** about himself. Not the Anonymoose knockoff stereotypical redditor that we got

so what are we mad about??? the fact that he smiled???
The fact that dude had no motivation at all for being evil/ a villain

I don't even give a **** about Dr. Doom/the F4 franchise but even I could only shake my head at his portrayal

I only saw a cam bootleg but I'm pretty sure he could be summed up as

Jerky kid with transparent strawman opinions

Gets in accident in other dimension

One year later inexplicably returns

Starts blowing people's heads up for no reason

Something something I want to destroy the world for some unclear, vaguely-defined reason (somewhat like Ultron's motivation in AoU but even more terribly developed)

"There is no Victor, only DOOM"

Dies

LAME

Dude just became evil. "Been gone for a min, now i'm back and evil yo" For what? "ioneem know, the planet or some ****, roll with it".

That's a perfect description.

Doom is Ultron without any explanation or development and no robot army.

Destroy the world just cuz he's angry with the military? Something humans did? They would've been better off showing that Doom just went insane being alone for year plus that green goop rotting his brain. I would've hated that too but at least it would've been clear.

At least Ultron clearly stated why he was trying to wipe out humanity going off Stark's mission statement of protect Earth.

Explain next movie that the doom in this movie is just a Doombot just to troll. Not like they are taking the franchise seriously.

Doombots are a stupid and ridiculous concept regardless so why not

I'd halfway buy it only if they somehow completely 200% improve on the (inevitable) sequel

The sequel aint inevitable anymore.

FOX will announce or sneak in the Deadpool sequel in it's place sometime next year :lol

Saw it today, i liked it.

Thought it was better than the last 2 Ironman movies and on par with Age of Ultron.

First half of movie was great, rushed through once they got powers.

I was thinking along those lines, but if they had a director who was more competent in handling the major set pieces, I think a sequel may have a shot. I love origin films, but like it even more when the characters are already established. If they focus more on the relationship between the characters and develop each of them more, I could see it happening. Put a menacing enough villain and I'm thinking it would do well.

I was actually satisfied with the cast. MBJ and Miles were a given, but I was surprised that Kate Mara was solid (I usually loathe her, unless with Craig Ferguson) and the CGI on the Thing was actually good.

It probably won't happen because the film is doing so poorly critically and financially, but it's a shame to reboot.. again.

just watched F4... Movie was straight up trash. everyone said it was bad but at least better than the OG F4 flick. nah bruh. I haven't seen the OG in a while so I don't remember too much about it, but I do know for certain that I didn't hate it as much as I hated the new one. Fox got some nerve releasing this hot piece of garbage in an era where people expect nothing but top notch comic book films.

Forget a reboot.

They'll either sell it back to Marvel now (along with a reconfigured X-Men deal) or slowly let it revert to Marvel in 7-8 years like they did with DD. Just in time for phase 4 or at least for Marvel to use F4 villains for phase 4.

:rollin

There's always that one guy.

What I'm really lost on is he says it's better than the last 2 IM movies but then says it's on par with AOU. So is AOU barely better than the last 2 IM movies?

I expect lame to say something like this.

Trank initially fought hard to get Teller cast in the film, winning out over Fox’s objections. But the director and actor’s relationship later turned sour. According to a story in this week’s Entertainment Weekly, Trank and Teller did not get along on the set of the film; Trank was allegedly withdrawn during production, and Teller is frequently sarcastic, making for a bad combination. Things got so bad at one point, in fact, that Trank and Teller’s disagreement brought them chest-to-chest, daring one another to throw the first punch (Teller didn’t have the benefit of Mr. Fantastic’s super-stretchy arms in real life).

Neither man actually ended up throwing a punch, but it doesn’t seem as if the rest of the shoot went much better; previous reports from sources from the set have sources calling Trank’s behavior towards cast and crew abusive and cold, especially toward Kate Mara, who got the role of Sue Storm over his objections.

I'm not seeing this "first part was good" stuff some of ya'll are talking about.
the first 40-40 mins or so was a typical orgin story.. bothing particularly bad about it. Gave us reed and bens friendship pretty well. Starts jumping scenes after they meet franklin storm and sue. Johnnys development was weak also but other than that good

watching That awkward Moment again.

Teller and MBJ will be fine...

wonder if theyll ever get Zac Efron as a hero.

he'll either take that route or the leonardo route and do all serious type movies, or blockbuster great gasby type

Efron isn't even doing that now by doing Neighbors and Baywatch. He tried the serious drama roles right out of High School Musical and I think while most see him as a decent to good actor, he isn't going to be in that DiCarprio level. Hell Teller and MBJ has surpassed him already in critical acclaim.

They could easily Doom-Bot their way out of the Doom we got, but since that's the easiest copout, it'll be lame if they go that route. Ole boy was on his "the world doesn't deserve another chance tip" with no explanation behind that. Ben might as well not have been in this movie. Teller just looks like a weirdo and has a punchable face. Kate Mara's wig awful, and they did my boy MBJ wrong with the cringy dialogue.

Efron could definitely fit in with the superhero film, he has the build and physique too minus the height but as we all know with RDJ case, that isn't a big problem.

Efron is a likeable dude just needs pick better projects..

17 again isn't the greatest movie, but he is extremely likeable in it.. Like timberlake in friends with benefits

I could see a Chris Evans like move
