Sneaker thieves tried to sell Air Jordans minutes after robbery
By Stephanie Pagones

The three sneakerheads who stole a pair of $2,000 Air Jordans off a Queens teen’s feet wasted no time trying to turn a fast buck: They tried to flip the kicks at a consignment shop 20 minutes after the robbery, surveillance footage released by police shows.

Video released by cops Wednesday night shows the trio sauntering up to the counter at .IMAGE on Northern Boulevard in Flushing — seemingly oblivious to the camera right in front of them.

The three showed up just 20 minutes after the 12:30 p.m. Saturday robbery.
Police said the unsuspecting victim was standing on the sidewalk in front of 143-32 Quince Ave. in Flushing when a white sedan slowly passed him before driving ahead and pulling to the side of the road.

That’s when the driver and two passengers rushed out of the car and jumped the victim from behind. One man pulled him to the ground and restrained him while the others ripped his Jordans from his feet, police said.

The thieves also made off with the teen’s wallet, which had $10 cash and a debit card.

But the trio couldn’t cash in — they couldn’t reach a deal at the shop, police said.

They were fakes.

Just 20 minutes after the mugging, the same three guys walked into .IMAGE on Northern Boulevard, according to cops.

“They tried to sell them to us,” said the employee, who dealt with the trio at the counter. He asked to be ID’d only by his first name, David.

He had no idea the shoes were stolen. “It just seemed like a normal transaction. They didn’t stutter They just told me they wanted to sell it.

“They asked, ‘How much could I get for these?’”

David compared the offered sneakers with the real ones they had in stock.

They appeared “exactly” the same, he said, until you looked closely.

“Cheaper material,” David explained of the knock-offs. “The stitching was different.”

He told the trio, “They’re fake. We can’t buy them.”

Asked to estimate the value of the knock-offs, David lowballed — a lot.

“Zero dollars, because it’s a fake!” he said.

Cops had been canvassing nearby sneaker consignment stores when they discovered the .IMAGE store surveillance video.

N.J. mystery pooper scandal: We have so many unanswered questions

http://www.nj.com/education/2018/05/njs_mystery_pooping_scandal_we_have_so_many_unansw.html

And you thought you were having a crappy day!

On Monday, Holmdel police arrested Thomas Tramaglini, 42, after a surveillance operation caught him defecating on the Holmdel High School football field and track. The surveillance was set up after human feces were found on the track “on a daily basis,” according to the police, who — to be clear — have only charged him for lewdness and littering for Monday’s incident.

News about the arrest, er, leaked out on Wednesday, but Holmdel police have been tightlipped about the details of the crime, and attempts to reach Tramaglini for comment have so far been unsuccessful. Thus we have questions. So many questions, that we can't hold them in.

Who is this Pooping Tom?

According to previous reporting by NJ.com, Tramaglini was unanimously appointed to oversee the Kenilworth School District in 2015. He has a Ph.D. in Educational Administration and a master’s degree from Rutgers, and a bachelor’s degree from Fairleigh dikkinson. He lives in Aberdeen, and seems to have a rather mild footprint on social media. Since his arrest, he’s on paid leave of absence.

How long has the pooping being going on?

Police and school officials have not commented about when the noisome behavior commenced, other than to say that feces was being discovered there regularly.

Who found the poop each day?

A maintenance person? A school team that practices before classes commence? The poor souls already assigned to first-period gym class. (Talk about adding insult to injury!) According to a police report, track coaches and staff at Holmdel High School told the district’s resource officer that they found human feces on or near the football field and track daily. What a way to start the day.

What did the surveillance operation entail?

Again, police won’t tell us if video cameras caught the transgression, or if a full-blown Emilio Estevez / Richard Dreyfuss stakeout was employed — but either way, Tramaglini was caught in the act on Monday morning, at approximately 5:50 a.m. If video does exist, however, it would presumably be subject to open public records, given that it was used in pursuit of identifying and capturing a criminal act..

What do the charges entail? Can he be dumped in jail?

Lewdness is a disorderly conduct offense in New Jersey that can result in a sentence of up to six months in jail, but more likely would result in a fine.

Dennis Kearney, a former Essex County assistant prosecutor and now a criminal defense attorney with Day Pitney in Parsipanny, said the state’s criminal code defines lewdness as “any flagrantly lewd and offensive act” committed by someone who knows or reasonably expects is likely to be observed by other nonconsenting persons who would be affronted.

“I think that’s about right,” he remarked, in response to the allegations in Holmdel. “Only in New Jersey.”

As for the charge of littering, he said that likely was a municipal ordinance that would also be handled in municipal court.

“Good luck with that,” Kearney said.

Could there be a perfectly plausible explanation for this?

Apparently having to poop while running is a thing. A serious enough thing that scores of articles have been written on the matter. (Note: This is why we don’t go running.) However, one might reasonably assume that — if Tramaglini is indeed the serial pooper (and, to be clear, we don’t know that he is) — and that he repeatedly suffered the mid-run runs, then he might have altered his schedule and his diet. In effect, poop me once in public, shame on you. Poop me twice, shame on me.

Did he wipe?

We do not know if he did or didn’t. However, there is a reason to dwell on this question. If Tramaglini was arriving for his daily run with toilet paper or wipes in tow, that would suggest premeditated pooping — i.e., he knew he was going to poop during the run, and thus planned for it. However, if he ended up having to scramble and find leaves to wipe … well, that would lend credence to the theory that he had an accident. Or many accidents.

Is there a psychological explanation for serial pooping?

Here’s what is really crazy: Serial pooping has actually become a thing. Some experts believe it's an act of aggression — much like vandalism, according to a report by Men’s Health, citing a clinical psychologist.

But instead of graffiti, or slashing tires, serial poopers, well, they poop, leaving their brand, the report said.

In 2017, there was the infamous “mad pooper” — a woman who would repeatedly poop in public during her morning jogs in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Two years earlier, in Akron, Ohio, there was the “bowel movement bandit,” a man who pooped on at least 19 parked cars in three years.
