No you don’t eat the shell. Shell is soft and you just pop them open, usually suck out the peanuts and juice at the same time.

They were on sale at Stew Leonard's for $9.99/lb. I had to buy it. My gf took me there for the first time. It's like grocery Disneyworld. I was mesmerized. I need to go back soon.

It's a local chain of grocery stores in NY and CT. They have these strange animatronic produce displays. Reminded me of Chuck E. Cheese's, but with a bakery, butcher, and a great selection of cheese, lol.
