F1 Official Thread - Grand Prix of Britain

That's an awful take by Max, but I'm gonna put it down to emotions running high.
He just (in his mind) got taken out by his main rival, who went on to win the race. Understandable that he'd be really upset, but his PR needs to calm him down. He hasn't even had a chance to go thru all the data/footage with his engineers.

Meanwhile, respect.

“when someone destroys your race through an error and it's kind of a tap on the hand really and [they are] just allowed to come back and still finish ahead of that person he took out - it doesn't weigh up.” Lewis Hamilton in 2018.

:rolleyes

Has Max ever put Lewis in the wall?

i'm going to assume no but has he ever put anyone else out of a race? and then gone and finished ahead?

regardless, he has the right to be mad but crying about the winner celebrating as if he's laid up in the hospital in critical condition is childish IMO.

as for the Lewis quote you posted, that was before my F1 time :lol (and i won't pretend to be an F1 expert like those of you watching the sport much longer than me) so i don't know the details behind it. but i honestly don't care tbh. i didn't see today's incident as reckless and gross aggression. i've seen worse driver judgement and incidents that get penalized the same or even less in the last two years.

and definitely correct me if they do factor in driver capability and car performance when it comes to punishments. if so, then sure maybe a 20 sec penalty is justified? i dunno though

Horner in Spain acknowleding that Lewis would've been in the wall had not yielded and tried to turn in.
This was only a few races ago.

Only difference this race is that no one yielded and Max came off worse.

Vettel was 100% to blame for the crash in France and only got 5 seconds for it.

Stewards said Lewis was predominatly to blame meainng both drivers contributed to the outcome.

These "sports fans" really are awful.
Heard cheering after Max had his crash, while racist abuse towards Lewis, unfortunately, could be seen a mile away. :smh:

I think the cheering was more of an OHHH than a YEAAHH from what I could hear, listening to it again but it won't surprise me if they did.
Those who were right in front of the accident in the other video definitely were not cheering.

Marko and Horner though definitely put fuel on the fire. No harm in backing up your driver but insunniating that another driver tried to kill your driver is OTT.

When I was watching it live, I def heard 'cheering' after the impact, but wasn't sure if it was an audio delay or whatever.
Then later, I saw some fan vids from different angles... from one, there wasn't cheering, while in another I could see/hear some duds cheering. Probably a small minority... but we shouldn't be surprised that there are these types of 'fans' out there.

As for Helmut and Christian... their OTT reaction is understandable and expected... Helmut is all about the BS OTT s%$T takes. I'm not defending RBR, but the reality is... racists asshats will continue to say racist ish... they just needed an excuse to do so and they found it in RBR criticizing Lewis. :smh:

There’s a big difference between “Lewis took an aggressive line that wasn’t his and Max’s response of staying on his own legal line led to him making tire contact and spinning out and hitting the wall, ” and “Lewis intentionally crashed Max Verstappen into hospital so he could get +26 net points” and people saying the second thing clearly are either blinded by rage or acting in bad faith.

the sad thing is this ******* BS is expected. as soon as those england footy players missed those PKs and as soon as this incident happened yesterday, we all knew this crap was coming. disgusting and disappointing but not surprising

Now Tom being at silverstone makes sense. Low key excited for TG2. Lol @ them singing that lovely feeling at the end.

Red Bull need to chill :lol

You would think Lewis was celebrating while Max has been hospitalised with multiple trauma to the body.

This is him being discharged from hospital with the way Horner and Marko are talking.
