F1 Official Thread - Grand Prix of Britain

He had to put Max in the hospital to win :rolleyes
People gotta stop with this crap…. He may have fought to aggressively for a line that wasn’t his and served a penalty for it. People really hate Hamilton so much they think he intentionally crashed Verstappen out while getting no damage to himself I guess, as a strategy. Must really be the best racer of all time then.

I don’t hate Hamilton, I’m actually a fan of his, but I’m not going to act like that wasn’t tainted.

Enjoy the win however you like.

People moan and complain all the time about the lack of actual intense wheel to wheel racing nowadays and we still get complaints when we actually do get it between drivers fighting for a championship and an accident happens . Fans are fickle

It's a shame for Max but it happens, that's the risk that comes with racing. Can't have it both ways

I understand I’d be upset if I were a Verstappen fan to get so unlucky, it’s just the vitriol I see thrown at Lewis online that I get tired of.

Tainted? Nah. Took advantage of some good luck for sure. Also the penalty was more than enough, his racing down the stretch was incredible as usual.

Very debatable whether the penalty was “more than enough.” He got the same penalty earlier this season for entering into the pitlane too quickly…

Couch it however you want, he put another man in the wall today. That man is currently in the hospital. Lewis probably doesn’t win otherwise.

Max will need to learn about risk management. That's the only thing that can cost him this championship.

Red Bull would've been the faster car in this heat today in Max's hands no doubt but they were down on top speed compared to the mercs so maybe that could explain the aggressiveness to stay ahead but when you're 33 points ahead, you don't have to be so aggressive all the time, especially as the championship leader

Lewis yielded in turn 1 in Barcelona after the full send by Max and came back to win the race with a good strategy. That would've been a crash if he didn't.
Lewis is not going to keep yielding and laying out the red carpet while he's 33 points behind and this is what happens when neither one yields.

When someone yields at that corner then you get this:

Lewis vs Bottas in 2019 and Vettel vs Alonso - 2014

I don't see how this tainted. Albon and Magnussen had a similar crash last year but it's not getting this much attention because they're not championship contenders. I don't even think Albon got a penalty for this

Edit: Albon got a 5s penalty for this.

I'm expecting more fireworks for the rest of the season

It was only a matter of time for them to crash.
Imola and Spain were already very very close.
Max doesn’t give an inch and he has to pay for it at some point.
The first lap today was insane. Multiple times he risked everything. What did he expect to happen?

I’m very interested to see the impact of the Mercedes update in the next races (one last will follow in Zandvoort)
If they are now able to stabilize the rear and as a result are able to drive with less wing, the championship will be even more interesting

It's heating up.
Going to see alot more carbon fiber flying in the air in upcoming races.

No one told Lewis, Max was in hospital so how was he supposed to know.
This is Baku 2017 again when the bromance between Vettel and Hamilton ended :lol
Only this time it's a lot more spicy.

I'm all for the fireworks and glad Max isn't hurt but  @ being mad at a driver celebrating a record W at their home GP in front of 140k countrymen.

The cheek of the most aggressive driver on the grid complaining about aggressive driving though... >D

Gonna be a fun second half of the season and I don't see Max being less aggressive if that response is anything to go off of and I doubt Lewis is gonna back down either trying to come from behind right now.
