F1 Official Thread - Grand Prix of Britain

Imagine this McLaren with a Mercedes engine...
They would still be behind the Merc works team though.

And that's the argument Ron's been making since he signed with Honda.  It's incredibly tough to beat works team if you're a customer.  People keep saying they should go back to Merc and whatnot... but then what?  They won't be at the back, but they won't be title contenders... perhaps leaving them to be the 3rd or 4th best team in the paddock.  And then what?  Find another engine supplier to be a works team?  That's like Honda 2015 all over again.  Sure, it's pretty bad right now with Honda, but once Honda gets it together (and I believe they can), they'll get the full support of Honda.  They wouldn't get the full support of Merc.   You could say that isn't the case for Renault and RBR, but I'd say they're the exception rather than the rule.  RBR has always had one of the strongest chassis and has consistently invested more into the team than Renault has.

Mercedes is still fat with the updates but on Pole still.

Hopefully a good start.

Crazy how close Seb was... I thought he had it too.  Messed up on the last 2 chicanes... and he knew it!

Kimi hasn't been slow either, so should keep things interesting during the race.

Shame about Bottas though... had to revert back to an old-spec engine.  Obviously it's a Mercedes conspiracy!

GET IN THERE LEWIS!

Bottas pretty much ruining most of the grid's races by that first lap incident. Felipe and Seb :rollin

Felipe saying he thinks Vettel is scared off him :lol

Great strategy my Merc delaying their last pit stop for the last lap under VSC. :hat

Also... what a mistake by Stoff... he's better than that, for sure.

And

@ BOT's engine failure.   This Mercedes conspiracy again!

The question is... why didn't they box Seb during the VSC?  He had an 8s gap and lost it all.

Because it wasn't the usual pit window so they would have thought Mercedes would not want a long stint on the soft tires.
Lewis made it last though but if both him and Vettel were on softs then it would have been harder.

Whats the conspiracy?
Is it from Bottas fans?

Had no idea the F1 YouTube channel do proper highlights now with the Sky Commentary.
The channel has improved a lot since it was first created. I remember unsubscribing because the content wasn't that great but this is much better

#shamelessplug Sinner Sinner would love this

Chris Goodwin... haven't heard from him for a long while. Sort of miss his McLaren-biased commentary on Star Sports back in the day. This job fits him perfectly :lol

I loved Chris' commentary!  Sure it was McLaren-biased, but at least he provided good technical insight!  Offset many of the mistakes Steve Slater made!

Chris has been McLaren's tester for years!  Great seeing what he's achieved.

Yeah... from the MP4-12C to what they have now... they've come a long way.

They still all look alike to me :lol
