Um, I'm not sure if you actually read the spec sheet, but the ENVY has up to 2TB hard drives, 2 better Graphics cards in every Laptop than the garbage NVIDIA midgrade chipsets in the Pro line(ATI 5850/5650 and Intel HD chips) and processors that blow the Macbook Pro's out of the water. And while you can run Windows 7 on a Mac natively, it's slow. In fact, a virtual machine is often preferred over boot camp in most scenarios short of gaming.

Dude, not to be a #@%+, but reading is fundamental!

macbook pros are solid ... i love osx, love the design ... the specs are generic and its WAYYYYYYY overpriced ... you can't get me to use a windows computer ... but w/ that being said i know what the shortcomings are of my computer ...

btw ... i just copped a new 15" mbp ... and the only reason i bought it was b/c i got it @ a substantial discount ...

for me it comes down to the apps and the integration of mac software .... @ the end of the day do you ...

for the price of the entry level 15" mbp (just under $2000 after tax)... it should have blu ray, hdmi, and the latest icore processors, and a bigger hard drive than 320 gb ... i can't argue w/ anyone that says this ... b/c its a FACT ... apple fanboys just refuse to admit it ...

i haven't checked out the envy ... i can't comment on anything but the design which is weak ... but it could be a good computer ... and w/ those specs ... its def. makes me

when people blindly defend apple ...

looks nice.

Smh at dudes that are saying its a blatant copy. How many ways are there to design a laptop? They all look similar if you take away the colours. I quite like the pattern.

at that Steve Jobs quote.

good call on getting the SSD. hopefully prices go down on larger drives. i want to get a 60/80 GB SSD as a boot drive for my pc, but funds are low right now. my caviar black 1TB will do, tho i wish i would have gone with a samsung spinpoint, heard they're faster... cheaper too.

anyway, don't waste your time trying to convince people. fanboys are called fanboys for a reason, nothing in the world will change their mind. companies could drop a *+$# on their door step and they'll be in love with it.

and this nvidia card on my MBP is a POS. i think that's one of my biggest beefs with Apple, you can't do anything to the computer (system wise) without them authorizing it first. can't update drivers individually, or roll back to past drivers that actually worked.

ATi FTW, got an Asus 5870 in my gaming PC

as far as the hardrives go and the graphics cards you're correct. i mean the laptop itself (the envy) is still running windows. and windows runs hella slow when u start taking up space on the hardrive. 2TB of data? i doubt that laptop will last to see 2 TB. i have a 15" macbook pro i run virtual machines on it with windows xp sp2 it runs just fine. ill never own an envy so ill never know the real difference of between the laptops. enjoy your envy. i prefer my mac and osx in general, its just more reliable, easier to use, less buggy and less prone to viruses. respect though.

Man I have 3 macs in the house, so I'm not attacking anyone for getting one. Macs are cool for certain types of work. Apple software while limited, is effective at producing high quality presentations with minimal knowledge. It's a really good common mans computer. They limit the choice but push you to just get simple task completed. This fundamental philosophy makes Macs excellent entertainment production devices. PC's are all about power. Yeah you can get software that keeps it simple, but most PC developers are all about giving you an arsenal of options. This is of course the gift and the curse. The ENVY gives you a number of hardware options, but even it could do a little better. They have to keep the ENVY 15 relevant so they gimped the 14 a little on the processor choices (It's energy efficient or power monster - very few options in between)

We're all fanboys/girls of something so honestly I mean no harm. Hey, every fanbase needs a little practice rallying to the cause and you have to admire the apple faithful. I live in a house of Cool (Mac everywhere), but I'm just a PC at heart. They're cool to look at, but I make a living with a computer, so it's more about the bottom line than how it looks to me. The ENVY gives me just enough of both.

-The first bolded part is wrong, either you don't know what you're talking about, or you stated what you were trying say wrong, or you making stuff up. Windows doesn't slow go just because the HDD fills up.

-We not talking about Vista here, Windows 7 is great, maybe you haven't used a Win7 machine yet to find out but all those things you stated as far as reliability, ease of use and bugs is highly debatable

-Macs can get a virus just like a PC, hacker don't bother write viruses for MACs because they are such a small part of the market. Macs don't get less viruses because the OS is more secure, that is an urban legend

With all that being said, Macbooks shine it two very crucial categories. Build quality and the track pad with most PCs it is hit or miss. For those reason, if Apple comes out with a new line or Macbook Pros this fall, I might consider picking one up.

As long as HP continues to have a shoddy charging port that's non magnetic I will never consider a HP for computer purposes. Those things are so flawed as hell one trip over the cord and you're $%$$!#.
