I read through this whole entire thread with a face of straight disgust. The skepticism, I understand 100%, but chance to throw around jokes just for cheap laughs on the internet when someone is in a position like this is incredibly sad. Even if the story isn't real (I believe the story) But for that chance the story might be real, you guys can't just back out of the thread and not say anything and just leave it alone? I know bullets travel, but for one to go from the arm into the spine/neck sounds freaky as hell and very unfortunate.

You'd be surprised. Bullets can do really weird stuff in the body, especially if they were slowed down passing through barriers (car door/window, for instance) or even heavy clothing they might not have the speed left over to exit the body. .22lr bullets are especially notorious for going in one hole and bouncing around inside the body without ever making an exit wound.

One famous example of a bullet following an unusual path through the body (two bodies, actually) is from JFK's assassination:

And that was with a hunting rifle, which is significantly more powerful than a handgun.
