Dressing better

If the guys is looking for 514's but with more taper, 501s aren't the answer.
I would highly suggest 511's but size up by 1.
You can also check out the new Levis 520s, I think they're 514s but with more taper.

As for jeans though, Nudies and Naked Famous seems to be the best value out there since they always go on sale.
They also have different fits and you don't have to go to a small store to check them out.
Bloomingdales or Barneys should carry them.

About the shirt being tucked.  I took pics of them both ways just to check.  I wore it untucked to dinner last night.  As for the "high above his waist"  Not really son, my legs are just muuuuch longer than my torso...Not much I can do about it, it just is what it is.   When it comes to the shoes, yeah, they're not modern, I bought them in 2007 while I was on vacation in Marseille.  They're not meant to be modern.  They're a clean simple brown slip-on.  As for wearing something from two years ago, I won't even lie, I have plenty of times that go into rotation from 2,3,4,5 years ago.  The whole point of this thread is to find inspiration from different styles, different eras.  But you clearly missed the point.
Besides that's my personal style, if you don't feel it, cool....do you...I'm going to keep doing me.

It's good to see this thread still going so strong despite all the trolls. I'm looking through these earlier pages and damn

If that's directed at my WDYWT comment, it's just my opinion.  This thread sustained itself for long enough without being odd angle pics of some of dudes' outfits.  It's just not my thing, I never participated in WDYWT threads whether it is streetwear or dressing better.  I think it's a little odd but that's my opinion.

I pay attention to this thread because of information and if there's any input or questions I have, I make it known.  My style is more in line with this thread than "typical" NTers so I'll stay in.

I understand where you are coming from, me bein one of the dudes that lately has been pretty active on here can tell you that I appreciate to see a piece on the average Joe like when RFX posts or ESCO or NIi, rather than when a picture of a GQ spread is posted, mainly because it seems more true to what the piece would look like in real life, rather than the perfect height, physique and model for that pair of pants, shirt, jacket....therefore I myself try to contribute and I only post when I feel I've thrown something on across the lines of what "Dressing better" may be...obviously I've learn that jays, foams, sb's, cargo shorts and graphic tees do not fall in that category, so those type of fits can stay in the WDYWT....that's just my take on it. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with you.
I'm knock trying to knock you.  It's completely up to you to post pics and everything, I'm just not a fan of it personally and I was pointing out that I think it's a little much, primarily because I think that posting something from the top of someone's head comes across as more than just showing what someone's wearing.  It's not that I don't like the thread, it's the one I read the most on NT, I've followed it from the start and seen a major shift lately.  To some extent it's for the better, glad to see more participation overall.  I'll leave my thoughts at that.

So I've seen people suggest buying from thetiebar in this thread. I'm wondering if folks have any thoughts on their quality. I'm sure it's okay at best, but is it even that?

I'm thinking about trying out a knit tie to see how I like the style, and I'm curious about whether it's even worth their (admittedly low) price.

thoughts?

Just weird I guess since your fits looks solid but it's hard to appreciate it in facebook-angle-esque type pics.
I actually like the angles. Facebook-esque would be him with a cell phone in a mirror or something. The whole angle take on it gives it his own personality and still properly shows the fit...thats just IMO
ohwell.gif

I don't think the angles are bad, it's just that it helps pople more if they can see the proportions of each items.
I mean he did get a lot of compliments on the fit pic of his suit because people could see how well it fit him after it was tailored.

I really meant no offense at all but in some pics I see more of the top of his head than what he's wearing.

Not a big deal though, just ignore me.

It's more the material than anything, it doesn't drape like the other suits which I would assume is wool.
The material in Jonas suit is stiff so it bunches up.

I bought a pair of Stan Smiths a couple days ago.

30 bucks flat.

The only bad thing is that I can't wear them with all my pants
since these Stans are slightly bulkier than Chucks which was
what I used for reference when getting my pants tapered.

can anyone recommend some khaki pants similar to RL Prospect Pants? I have one pair of those and they are loose enough in the thighs for me..........however I got them at TJ Maxx, and would never pay retail for them.

Didn't know there was so much animosity and supressed emotions towards this thread, I haven't been here that long but I thought this was a thread for inspiration, information and C&C...if what it takes is for dudes to post fits of what they feel is "dressing better" then let it be, I personally have enjoyed Ace's fits...wether his reason for posting is attention or groupie love, I really don't care, dude pulls it together. Since I started posting here, the dude that impressed me most is Nii, but I'm rarely suited up, so I can't really pick up anything from his sense of style....but I'm sure someone out there is...and to me that's the point of the thread, or no?

Naw chill, there's no animosity at all, i love this thread.  It's closer to how i dress and i've dug eiddys fits and yours before and like you said, joints are for inspiration.   What i can't stand is the one time you don't like a fit and say "i don't like that" cats wanna jump all over it like "naw this aint what this thread about!". And of course there's no right or wrong, but some of you softees seem to want to have a ban on criticism.  I'm no fashionista, but i'm in this thread, so as i can give a thumbs up without explanation, i can give a thumbs down I have a disdain for people in general though who avoid criticism and confrontation like life is all ponys and butterflies and theres a few in this thread.  So again those dudes, kick rocks.

And hey i love ya'll though don't get it twisted.  But don't spend too much time on this keep it moving.
...honestly, I haven't seen any of that exactly in this thread. Plenty of people take it in stride when someone doesn't like something about their post/opinion. But there is alot of people saying this thread is about this and about that, I take from it what I want and everyone else should treat this thread as an open-forum to do the same. I also don't see people saying this thread isnt about that. Criticism is not the same as blatant jokes. I have no problem with neither, but really your view of this thread is skewed/jaded or something. I think too many people come in here thinking that there's a blatant air of elitism in the thread title and whats posted in it.
But eh, anyways, here's a shot of those Sebago in jeans. Someone asked a while ago and i was casual yesterday...

ps: I'd like this jacket to be more fitted since it looks bunched up in the gut when zipped up, but eh. Maybe I could get it to a tailor later.

ps: this is more along the lines of my everyday dress.

Only Nii is really dressing better 78% of the time

. My main thing is more fitted clothing, layers, shoes (less sneaker-like styles). I adore simplicity. Henleys are gonna be my layer-upper of choice all spring! lol

LONG time lurker to the thread. Just want to say thanks to all the people who keep this going, this thread has helped me a lot (and it's one of the best on NT). Some things on here I've kinda copied.... and some I don't think I ever will, but it definitely gives me some great ideas.
