Can the crepe soles on my MacAlister boots be redone? If not, what is the best way to maintain them since I read that crepe soles aren't very durable.

I know Clarks resoles their crepe-soled shoes (Desert Boots, Wallabees) via resole.com for $60. At that price, I think you're probably better off just buying a new pair off Amazon.

A competent tailor, knowing how you want your stuff to fit and building a relationship with that tailor. Once you find a good tailor it really is important that you know how you want your stuff to fit and not simply go to the tailor and tell him or her that you want a hem or a taper. Usually they'll go with what they want and that may not what you exactly want. Adrian has figured out the break he wants now and has his taper measurements down to a tee…I know at one point he tested 8" and 7.5" openings and went with what he felt suited him best. Building a relationship with your tailor is also important. Your tailor now knows what you like and how you like it, this is especially true when it comes to altering stuff like blazers as that can be very tricky but when your tailor knows what you want it makes things a lot easier.

Thanks! I am the complete opposite of Adrian in regards to physique but the same principles still apply even for someone who on my side of the spectrum. My guy knows how I like my jackets to fit which is crucial to flattering my physique not making it look bigger.

Not worth resoling. They're cheap enough to replace when they wear down. It's the nature of crepe sole. They will dirty and stain like crazy. If you don't like this, opt for Chukkas next time with leather or rubber sole.

actually just peeped an old stock list and it shows the clifton's as a closeout model.  so they would be part of the deal.  also, i believe that the RL slatons are closeouts as well and are a similar model to the cliftons

Indeed. What Sergio said is correct. Build a relationship with your tailor. If he truly is competent, your desires fit should be achieved.

However note that for yesterday's fit, the jacket is custom by Thick As Thieves (part of a full suit) and trousers are OTR from J.Crew's Bowery slim line.

As for Clifton's, those have been discontinued for quite some time. Outside of the 2 for 250, it has been listed for $129 plenty of times. If the sale doesn't land, hit em up anyway and see what the listed price is. When I got mine last year, it was obtained for the price I said above.

So does M = D as well in terms of width?
