The only difference would be patch pockets, top stitching instead of pick on the lapel, no shoulder padding and maybe a center vent instead of dual vents.word? Jacket has a sheen to it like a suit jacket. No detailings of a blazer or sport coat at all.
Not when it's a suit jacket. If it's a blazer/sport coat, sure.
I think it's fine. I wear suit jackets with other trousers all the time.
Some of these guys take all the rules too seriously which takes the fun/creativity out of it.

I've worn a navy chalk stripe trousers with navy suit jacket before. Also wore a gray suit jacket with jeans as well. I guess the navy chalk stripe trousers and navy jacket would qualify as two shades of blue too. I liked the final products for all outfits. Will do again.
