Dressing Better Vol 2.0

^ Looks pretty good. How's the quality?

Personally, I would take it in. $50 at the tailor and that thing will fit perfectly.

I sure wouldn't take in. It's outerwear. It's not supposed to be skin tight.

Looks great as is.

It's not meant to fit like a cape either. I don't wear my topcoats/overcoats over a suit jacket or blazer or whatever so I always have them taken in.

Let's see it buttoned up and with the thickest layer of clothing you plan to wear with it, whether it be a full suit or just a thick sweater.

Then it would be easier to see if it truly needs to be taken in on the sides.

Can you guys recommend me a messenger bag? Preferably not too expensive and bonus points if it's sold at Macy's because I've got a gift card I need to get rid of.

Thanks ahead of time

Thanks, bros. The quality is decent for the price @FLYKNITLVR  ; I wouldn't have paid full retail for it though. For wearing casually with jeans and t-shirt, like today, I feel like it can be taken in more, but you guys said it looks fine. I'm inclined to agree. Also, when I do wear a full suit with it, I'll need the room. But it's a toss up; I guess ill make a decision at some point.

Not sure if it was posted in here but Opening Ceremony is having a sample sale next week; Alexander Wang is having one this weekend. Was in SoHo earlier but passed on the Wang sale (pause) didn't want to wait in the rain.

What's the general consensus about these things? Long lines, high stress environment?

How long is it? Like where does it hit? Mid-thigh? It's on sale + 40% off so I'm debating grabbing, but I like my coats long.

Do you still see it online? I don't see it on there anymore. If so, could you post the link 8o

If you guys do not mind, can you share how you find / found out about these J. crew sample sales?

Feel free to hit the PM.

Copped the Topcoat from Banana during Black friday for a little over $100; Debating on whether or not to take in the sides, but we'll see.

Just what I was going to come in and ask you guys about....a tan/camel color coat like this or similar! Any other recommendations? Also interested in opinions on a nice coated pair of black denim and regulAr black denim.... I'm not too slim waist 32/33 and price range for both $200 or less. Thx in advance!

Ears: that BR coat looks completely fine. Even when wearing with a t shirt, let it be roomy. Embrace the drape, bro :hat

My 2 cents on Schott from my visit to a newly opened store today. You guys should check it out. Most pieces are around $700-900 and the hand is great, more-so than PS Paul Smith, BLK DNM, etc. at the same or slightly higher price range.

Schott quality has always been on point. The problem is the fit.
Yep. Mentioned that in the blog. They're pretty slim fitting now though. Tried on 4-6 random jackets today from their nyc and perfecto lines.

Nice post Wis. Whenever I do decide to go through with a leather purchase it'll probably be a Schott. Hesitant since there aren't any stores near me to try them on though.

I love Schott, but their sizing is very weird and the jackets are very heavy.

The jackets sold at their retail store vs jackets sold on other sites (UO, Lucky Brand) have different fits..even though the model might be the same.

You really need to try them on before purchasing to make sure you get the right fit.

Shameless plug

all 3 perfectos are the 626 model..but all 3 fit differently lol

Do any of you guys wear drivers caps? I want one but don't know where to look for a decent one that is not more than 20 bucks.

I got a Schott 118 a few months back and I love it, I've had a TOJ and a BLK DNM as well, all dope in their own individual right, for my body type the Schott definitely worked out the best though..... jacket sure is heavy, without a doubt

TOJ - It was godly

BLK DNM - looked great but felt flimsy to me

Eyeseesoles - Theres one on Macys.com (RL) that comes out to like $30 something with the code FRIEND which gives you 25% off at checkout, I have a lot of drivers, Jcrew usually carries a grey and tan thats fairly inexpensive as well, good luck.

BLK DNM falls inline with other designer leather jackets I've had and handled, reminds me of Shipley & Halmost and Paul Smith, both I have/had. The Schott joints are all calf based, supposed to be able to walk through rough terrains and weather and still be good years later, hence the weight and thickness.

Nordstrom carries a few too FYI. You can always cop and return if they don't fit.

Schott has a good return policy, you can return if it doesn't fit, in case thats the only place that has exactly what you are looking for.
