Dressing Better Vol 2.0

On the other hand, couldn't you say it the other way too? As in if it is going to be your only pair so you might as well get the better one?

I actually just want to stretch that to a different discussion because I get asked this a lot, especially when it comes to suits.

If you're only going to own one suit that will see a few wears, what is better? A cheap but mediocre to bad quality suit (H&M, ZARA, etc...) or a more expensive but great quality (shouldn't matter if designer or suit maker or mtm or bespoke) and well made? I can see the answer going both ways to be honest, though personally, I think I would prefer option 2. If it is going to be my one and only suit, I think I wouldn't mind splurging on it a bit.

What are your thoughts and opinions?

I would too go for option #2 over #1 if that was the case.

The Epaulet GAT is a take on the GAT, remember that even the MMM GAT is a replica of the actual German Army Trainers. The quality of the Epaulet GAT is pretty amazing actually and the leather is some of the most supple I've seen.

Obviously there's no real proof but I have a feeling that Epaulet version is essentially a replica of Margiela's replica. Had MMM not popularized the the model, they wouldn't have created their own version and while it's not surprising the quality is great, the design falls short. I'm sure they wanted to use a different sole to make it more unique to them.

There is no doubt they made them based on MMM, if Margiela didn't release it, no one would even know GATs existence.

I honestly don't know where to post this, and i don't wanna make a whole new thread on this but can anyone chime in on how publish shotwell shorts fit? Specifically the benny gold collabs? I'm 145lb usually around 30-32, should i go with 30 or 32?

I'm willing to bet they fit like their pants which are novelty sized. My true waist is 32" and 30" is perfect for Publish Brand. True waist meaning putting a measuring tape and wrap it around my waist on the belly button.

I'll leave with this example though, Lanvin low tops. Very simple and clean yet I have not seen a comparable shoe alternative for it at a much cheaper price. There are others that tried but it just didn't look as good, they miss in the shape, overall design, quality, etc...

Those kicks are so dope. So sad I had to sell mine :( 7 UK was a bit too big, 6UK is too small. 7UK in high tops are alright since I can tie a bit tighter.

Question is how much longer before Nike/Jordan bastardize it 8o

Thanks, man. Appreciate it! I still enjoy posting after all this time surprisingly. I appreciate the opportunity to link up/meet really interesting folks on those platforms as well.

Heads up, J Crew Factory is doing an extra 25% off with code SALE25. Everything is still marked down 50% off too and this code stacks. Seems to be good until 4AM EST.

Thompson suit in worsted wool can be had for ~$160 which is the lowest I've ever seen it drop. Great starter suit for the money.

They must have updated over night. Suit is back to $248 and $148 for jacket and pants (navy worsted) then you can add the 25% off.

Are there any sales coming up in the factory this weekend? Looking at that same shirt and the camo one. Forget how off factory items can fit, some too big some too small. Rather go instore than buy online.

My brother returned some stuff to J.Crew Factory for me yesterday and said that theres a sale going on right now. He didnt get the specifics but I assume its the same one thats online.

Double vent or center vent jacket? Which do you guys prefer?
I would say double for suits and center for blazers/sport coats but I am partial to double for all around.

Just picked up a Uniqlo dry comfort blazer yesterday that unfortunately has no vent (why? idk) but its damn near like a sweater and more cropped as it does not cover my seat so the vent doesn't really matter. Especially since its a beater piece to me.

Thanks. Yeah I'm leaning towards double.

I've been putting off buying a complete suit for quite some time now since I don't need to wear a jacket to work. I emailed TAT to inquire about purchasing a suit a while ago so I have all the info. But, since I plan to put on a decent amount of weight/muscle and fill out a bit in the near future. I don't think I want to go that route yet.

So since I already have the Ludlow slim suit pant in Italian wool in hthr charcoal & deep navy, I might just bight the bullet and pay the always excluded from discount $425 for one of the matching jackets. I guess it will be deep navy since the hthr charcoal is backordered. But, that works out better because I've been wearing the hthr charcoal pants a lot and have only worn the deep navy a handful of times so the color won't be faded and should match the jacket still.

I figure why not since I already have the pants. Although I know that this isn't the smartest move value/quality wise.

i thought so too but eastbay and footlocker apparently sold out with a quickness and adidas has limited sizing as well

$425 is mighty steep. At just a hundred more you are already at TaT prices or even Suit Supply. If the ludlow fits perfectly with no need for alterations, then sure why not? Otherwise, I would suggest getting a full suit from a different maker.
