Best deals are online it seems. They are flying fast tho.

Will be interesting to see where JCP goes since Wooster left and co owns a street wear brand in NYC now.

Not sure where to go with this inquiry but I'm looking for spots in NYC where I can find pants like this:

essentially I want these weekenders but without any design, just straight black pants with cuffs on the bottom to wear with my dunks. Any spots you know in NYC please let me know I haven't bought anything besides Levi's or J Crew chinos in forever.

But I just got a new job in a luxury store and need to upgrade my
pants collection. I'm looking for good fitting and AFFORDABLE (I'm still in college)
denim, cords, and or chinos I guess just pants in general lol. I need a few pairs of black
ones but am open to most colors.

If it helps I am 5'9" around 170 slim but muscular athletic build as I play college ball.
I normally wear a size 32 waist, 31 if I can find it and length I usually go with 30.

Please help DBFam, all help would be greatly appreciated, and repped

It's true and very valid. The definition can mean a world of difference between a working professional and a college kid. See Adrian pre graduation and now for example.

That's a very good range. I'm using myself as a baseline and I'm going to say that you may too muscular for the J. Crew 484 line. I'm 5'10" at 160 lbs and pretty lanky.

I will say try to stick with J. Crew for now. They have a fit that's looser than the 484 but still slim. Quality is good when on sale. At worst you can try 15% off for being a student.

Others have good experience with the Gap selvedge denim too. I don't so I can't speak on that. I just know they're affordable.

Stick to your game plan of having a few versatile in rotation. You can always upgrade when you have a better job in the future.

Stick with mundane colors for now aka versatile colors: gray trousers, khaki chinos and cords, dark indigo jean.

Again for example: look at Adrian. He went from Ryder dirt to sleeping in custom made shirts.

While comfortable they were a little wide around the ankle causing them to not really sit properly when worn with a shoe like wingtips. I believe they are the basic chino's from J.Crew but I'll check out their other styles and see what they have. Could you recommend other brands with maybe a slimmer/ more tapered cut to them? Sorry for all the questions

Try the actual J. Crew store. The outlet has its own cuts. I take a size 31 in the 484 and the leg opening is darn slim as is, 7". The Ludlow trousers are as equally slim as my designer brands from Barneys.

Bowery slim! That's it. The homie can try that out. It's a bit looser than the Ludlow but still slim. I tried that on as a college student when it was their most slim cut.

For sure man. I remember back in 2009 or so, these slim cuts were a lot looser than they are now

Stick with navy, gray and tan for starters.

I picked up some Bowery Slim's about a month ago and i love them... def plan on picking up more... you should definitely check those out.

484 jeans from J. Crew outlets are NOT slim AT ALL. Terrible fit.

Much better off going to a non outlet store.

also remember guys, it is tough to find jeans that fit "perfect" OTR. Tapering is no big deal and most of the time your local dry cleaner or neighborhood alterations place can do it for $10-20 (depending on location).
Most importantly make sure the waist, crotch, seat, and upper leg/thighs, fit well. Slimming the leg opening is an easy fix and can make a huge difference. It is worth the extra bucks.
