last day on air is this friday...

i kinda figured that was the case cause he wasnt on air for like a month. lol.

Dude ran his course, the show was boring, uneventful and downright sorry.

He's a legend in radio and black music, but its over.

Kirkout Radio is the future.

My-T.

I read an article in The Washington Post a few weeks ago, pretty much saying that he might be calling it quits.  I thought his contract was up in March though, oh well he's a legend and at least now he'll have more time to play golf which he loves so he'll be fine.

Show died when Chris Paul left

*waits for Heat to drop the company statement*

Based on his comments when Paul left, I would think that played a part in his frustration with the company. Plus, having to play #%@ like Young Money had to be driving him crazy.

I think Big Tiger will take over morning drive...

Donnie Simpson was just boring...

On a sidenote, the best morning show in the area is The Junkies...

 It definitely did.

Are they handing the show over to Mike Brooks and The girl(cant think of her name) . He was on the air or a long time its ran its course .

I thought Donnie = Ad revenue though?

Either way, it should be interesting.

I know he can't make the money he made here anywhere else, but I know he can go to Detroit and still bang with Harvey, M.Bas, etc.

I def cosign Tommy's views...
The straw that broke the camel's back, in my opinion, was the contest looking for on air "personalities" to "replace" chris paul...
That was a sign that the end was imminent... It also def didn't help that huggy left, and that his demographic was def aging...
That era of morning shows is over...
DC needs a HOT 97 type morning show that's discussing hip hop's/R&b's current events, some MissInfo (credibility) type gossip, your average radio-ready HH&RnB, and good interviews (artists, actors, etc...) to be in the ratings hunt...
Is this market ready for that? Probably not...

Just my opinion...

wow.. yeah, donnie was kinda boring but its gonna be weird knowin he wont be on in the morning whenever i go home (moved out to cali a year ago).

i mess with elliot in the morning..
That cornball?  Say it aint so bruh...

I can understand Heat not wanting to comment, seeing as she works directly for the station.. but since Im on the sister station.. I will agree with statement above and Tommies that Donnie ran his course.  Video Soul was his Niche back then and its apparent he needs a STRONG sidekick to support him or the show is where it ended up....

I mean really... a contest for  a sidekick?  Thats a slap in the face to all the CBS on air Talent who take Radio seriously.  (I am not one of them.) lol

Nah Bruh... Donnie's been steadily slipping in all Demo's.  CBS Radio is not an Urban station or Black Owned.. which makes getting sponsors easy (Just being real) but from what I know that wasn't the case for the Green Eyed Bandit like it used to be.

Read above comment B Fresco... This aint back in the day...just ask KYS and see why Radio One is complaining about sharing revenue with Artists.  Everyone is struggling for Ad Revenue...especially corporate dollars.  When our station made the flip to Sports from Guy Talk.. they made more money than ever before.. even in the hey day of Don and Mike (Poo Poo)  and the Junks.

Which means stations would have to depend on ALOT of Local businesses to be sponsors.  Even thats hard.  Then you get into Ratings.  Our lowly Weekend Show gets more ratings than some week day shows... so with me being a brotha.. and Kev being White.. we can and have gone after ALL the dollars out there.

Look for more coming soon.

Donnie's going to be ok though.  Altho he was only getting 1 Million a year... Don and Mike was getting 3 Million a year.. partly because they were syndicated but it just proves even bad shows with a Target Demo that listens can make the station money.

Peter Rosenberg who has a show with Cipha Sounds on hot97 in the morning did have a show in the dc area (was on wjfk) and nobody was listening... Now that he's on hot 97 i guess he's doing pretty well for himself...

Yeah... he was on our station before it flipped.. with a dude named Daryl.

Peter didn't get along with Don Geronimo and always used to talk about his girl problems. Plus he was on during Mid days.. and mid days in ANY market is killer. Drive time mornings or evenings are where the good ratings come and go.

Plus Peter was the main dude and Daryl was more of a side kick. It was the first thing I thought about when Kev asked me to be on the radio.. I told him Im not a radio dude and I def aint no one's sidekick. So it works for us, cause we bring it from both sides of the ethnic, cultural and social economic table. And we talk more than just Sports too.

Yeah the show was pretty boring. I bang with the Russ Par morning show though, since the big phat morning show left there has been no competition in the radio morning show game. Ricky Smiley is doodoo
