I'm in Chicago and have been turned away once or twice from a black club for having gym shoes on because I just came after work. Its a common dress code at certain nightclubs. I've seen many a times people being turned away due to not having a collared shirt on or being told they have to leave their cap in the car

I think it would come off better if this sushi spot just stated upscale clothing required and enforced it equally

Who the fuh wears dress shoes besides wedding, church & funeral. Rather kick it @ a spot wearing sneakers or flip flops.

Yeah that's the thing, they don't tell you what's required, but what they don't want. It's not something like "upscale attire" or "jacket required", it's "no baseball caps darkie". I don't know what black person hasn't ran into this enough to think "what's the problem? Isn't that normal"

A black club doing it doesn't exclude it from being racist, the same group is targeted.

Hole in the wall spot gotta look slightly dilapidated. At least you won’t get turned away and the food will be good
