DISNEYLAND/DISNEYWORLD APPRECIATION!!! PUT IN UR ORDER FOR AN NT DISNEY SPIRIT JERSEY NOW!!!

Major things coming to Disney World. Wow! I think I counted 4 new lands and 7 rides or something like that.

its their biggest park(s) and they got to compete with epic universe which opens next years so they really got to go all out

im really surprised that DCA is getting pretty big expansion, Avengers Campus doubling in size then the Coco and Avatar attractions (land?)… that is a lot in the coming years

and surprised they didnt talk about disneyland forward

streph throat be damned, got my damn participation medal

and the motivation… the best fried chicken in the world :emoji_fire:

Any advice or guidance for Tokyo Disney? Planning to hit DisneySea for a day but is a full day even needed? It’s only $58/day, but they sell half days for even less. Is Tokyo Disneyland worth seeing if we’ve been to Anaheim hella times?

Appreciate the help folks!
Following up.

Hit DisneySea on a Monday morning. Got to the park around 11am and the day was super smooth. Rode everything in Fantasy Springs except Frozen. Crowds were manageable and it was nothing like what IG had us expecting. Pretty awesome park. The 3D Peter Pan ride was pretty incredible. Chilled churros hit the spot too lol.

Randomly crossed paths with NBA champion Tyson Chandler out there too. His wife def hit me with the “please don’t bother us” look 🥸

Thanks for the advice on that trip yall

great to hear you had fun

did you need the whole day in the park afterall?

im hoping to visit tokyo, hopefully next year

As an anime fan i was happy that some of the better macross titles would be hitting Disney+ seems the rumor is US date is 8/22 as Europe and Canada already have em. With funimations ridiculous price for Macross Plus blue ray imma be glad to watch in good definition on streaming till a cheaper blu ray option becomes available

you got three days and it hasnt been too bad lately it seems so i wouldnt suggest disney+/lightning lane to hit up all the rides

first thing id suggest though is getting in the online queue for haunted mansion ay 7am (if youre starting at DL) or noon (if starting at dca), its the holidya layout right now so its good for the kids me thinks

that also kind of sets up your day depending how long you'll get called but the classics are right there too, pirates, indy, big thunder and rise of the resistance

your kids being 6 and 9 and fantasyland seems perfect for you guys (peter pan, dumbo, story boat ride, alice, pinchio, etc...) and toontown is a good place to let them run around if you wanna tired them out, runaway railway and roger rabbit rides should be fun for them too

at night fantasmic then fireworks

dor dca, world of color also has a queue at noon (or maybe 11am?) and that should be for the 9pm show but if they can stay up later, i find the 10:15 show better as you can go in the very front and just get the best view

dca is small enough that you can hit up most of it within day, try and rope drop racers at carsland as thats the most crowded and probably the best attraction at dca, when you need to cool off go to philharmagic, many people do not even know about this place but its a 3d show in an airconditioned theater next to monsters inc which is also good for the kiddos and from there just go around, experience avengers campus and all the characters, spidey ride then pixar pier then grizzly river, tire em out at the trail and then soarin'

also keep an eye out when dca might close early because oogie boogie bash is happening some nights by the time you guys visit

and on the third day hit up DL again and just do their favorites again and finish what you guys couldnt hit up, saturday might be the busiest too so ill do that as the more chill day and just go with the flow and wing it

not much else to say (since i pretty much just listed the whole park  ) except have fun!

Need advice here since it’s been a long while since last visiting DL. Im planning a wek long stay in anaheim and ticket prices seems to be much higher than last time. I read that magic key passes are no longer offered for new customers (all sold out). Do there just randomly pop up for sale? If so, how can i know when they are being released to the public? If i cant score passes, whats the best advice for several day tickets? I have four kids so trying to stretch my money. TIA

you got to follow their social media account and/or sign up for a newsletter to get those info, also helps to follow disney news accounts

as for tickets, they are running a promotion for a 3-day ticket but its only good til sep 26

Thanks bro, i’ll do just that. That’s a damn good deal but our stay is slightly after smh

Good lookin out! I appreciate this, Brah!

I hope I get into a Springtime Surprise Race at DW! Registration opens on Tuesday.

-edit-
Never knew there was a DCA/DW thread! Subscribed!

Whenever I visit, I usually don't even go to AK or MK after visiting five years ago. I mainly go to Hollywood Studios and EPCOT because the Skyliner makes them so convenient to get to. Plus, the attractions/food are better to me. With these new major additions to the Kingdom parks, however, I'm willing to take the bus ride over LOL

Warning long read... but Just got back home from the cruise and wanted to share my excitement/experience.

and DAAAAAMNNN it really was MAGICAL.

I haven't been to a Disney park in just over 20 years, and last time I went I was with family as a teen getting over a break up (lol smh) and only remember few bits like this entitled teen with brand new air zoom generations walking around trying to impress his friends by trying to trick me into getting sprayed in this water playground structure. Not sure why this particular instance stuck with me, but probably a reminder to not let ppl try and punk you lol.

Back to the cruise, everything was on point from the service to the entertainment.

Service/Cruise Experience
-If you've ever been on a cruise, the service was about the same as you would expect.
-Stateroom host was very deligent and detailed in their work and made you feel welcomed.
-Your dinner servers got to know you and your party's orders/preferences and made sure you were happy. I ordered some side pineapple and watermelon for the kids the first night (they love those fruits and to hype them up for the vacation, I told them they could eat it every day lol) and the servers had the fruits ready when we arrived every night for dinner service. Only thing I didn't like is that mangoes were only available during the breakfast buffet (I also told my kids they could have mangoes every day lol). Soft drinks were included, basic juices (apple, orange), milk (whole milk, regular, chocolate), where other cruises that might be an additional cost or only available at breakfast. Drink packages were not available for this reason. Alcoholic drink packages are also not available cause it was a kids cruise and good you don't have to worry about drunks unless someone really wanted to spend a ton of money. No casino and smoking section was really secluded on a top deck that was hard to get to. Other cruises I have been on, the smoking sections were on populated areas such as the pool deck which really was just a zoned off area with ashtrays.
-Food was pretty solid I thought. It is what I expected, although some things we ordered did not meet our expectations. Food options were: breakfast buffet or sit down, lunch buffet or sit down, dinner sit down only, room service with limited menu available 24/7, soft serve (self service) pretty much always available, quick bites (burgers, pizza, nuggets, sandwiches, fruits) available from lunch until late night (options become more limited closer to 12 am). Mickey bars were disappointing imo, the chocolate layer was thin so it cracked/fell apart easily, and the ice cream inside was alright; the kids loved them though. I had it one night and then just stuck to the regular adult menu desserts. Everything about the cruise was meant for you to indulge, I rarely eat 3 full meals a day, but while on a cruise, you are always full.
-Decent amount of entertainment for adults, such as magic acts, games, trivia, karake, etc. Also had family events at night too. We saw plenty of groups that were just adults, which my wife thought was odd. I told her they are just really big disney fans. I didn't do too much past 9 pm cause kids slept early. Wife would stay in and I would go hit the gym (well equipped) or see what my parents were up to. They also had movies playing throughout the day on the pool deck (disney classics) or movie threatres (they screened recent movies such as deadpool and wolverine, inside out 2).
-Gift shop: lots of variety of different souvenirs and disney stuff you could buy from those lounge bags (only heard of them 2 weeks ago), ears, magnets, PINS! (I did not know this was a thing where ppl buy and then trade with each other and there are limited edition ones, etc). They even had diecast pixar Cars toys there. I asked the staff member if he had any specific characters in the back but he didn't know which character I was talking about (staff are probably told just tell guests whatever they have out is what they have), so I was in the giftshop everyday during any spare time I had just to check if they had any interesting ones or ones my son keeps asking for (any Blue mater, I want Tokyo mater tho lol). Ppl keep buying them up at our local stores to sell on facebook marketplace for like $2 profit CAD, like come on. Disney knows how to cater to collectors with the pins, cars, ears, etc. The Cars has me searching for characters my son wants, me chasing that "I found it" feel just like with sneakers smh lol.
-Kid clubs were available for drop off (nursery, kids, older kids, teens). Only thing I didn't like was there wasn't a playground or open area for play for my younger one. The kids clubs were only drop offs, my kid was kinda in between, too old for nursery, but too young for drop off. Other cruises I've been on had a play area with climbing structures, ride on toys, etcs. The disney cruise did have open houses times, so it did allow us to go in with our younger one to explore the kids area.
-The staff in general are very happy and almost all staff are friendly enough to just come up and start a conversation with you. They work really hard (ending dinner service 10 pmish, resetting the dining rooms, etc and then I'm seeing the same wait staff at 8 am for breakfast). I hope they get a reasonable compensation, but they want to be there, so hope its worth it to them. The whole cruise was just such good vibes (strangers greeting each other on elevators, random chats, etc) probably cause everyone is on vacation and enjoying themselves. If 50% of the people just treated others this way, the world would be such a better place lol.
-Definitely would recommend a Disney cruise if you enjoy both disney and cruising (reasons above and more below). The water was really rocky the first two days at sea though, so it can be tough some days (my kid was screaming she wanted to go home on the first day cause she felt very motion sick. There are shorter cruises available such as 3-5 days I believe, we did a 7 day cruise.
-edit: another nice thing is that public washroom are basically always clean. They are cleaned frequently and there are enough around that you can find that are not in peak hours use. You also have the option to go back to your room.
-The Disney cruise guest wifi - allows for imessage, whats app, and their cruise app for messaging. So very easy to stay in contact. Wife found imessage was best as sometimes app chat were not always instantanous. Be sure to turn on push notifications for the cruise app.

Entertainment:
-There were 3 musicial shows that played (we had Aladdin, Frozen, and Disney Believe), each with multiple show times. We had the early dinner service, so our options were lunch time show time (12:45) or after dinner (8:30 ish). If you had the later dinner service, then options would be 12:45 or 6pm. Very entertaining and fun. My kid was perked up in her seat every show, I've never seen her sit that straight up and still for an hour straight. She knew the characters, stories, and songs pretty well (we had lots of prep watching Disney movies months leading up to vacation for characters she didn't know as well lol).
-Character interactions were amazing. This was the first time my kids ever got to character interactions at Disney (previous times its been birthday party hires etc). My daughter wanted to see almost every character and take a picture with them. Not sure if its the same as the parks (again haven't been in 20 years), but there is a weekly schedule of where the character interactions would be so it made it easier to schedule your day. It is very well organized as the staff help to organize lines, take pictures, autographs etc. I felt very rushed the first couple of days just trying to make sure I get the shots we wanted and only closer to the end I learned that you can slow down a bit and the staff really help you to feel comfortable and you can take a reasonable time to pose, swap party members, swap cameras, chat, etc.
-Most Characters were schduled for different times throughout the week, so you didn't have to feel like you only had one chance to see a character. Some characters also changed their costumes depending on the itenerary (pirate night, beach day, etc). There were very few characters where you only had once chance to see them. It was also kinda cool to try and get photos of the different character costumes too.
-The character interactions are also nice on a cruise too cause they may actually recognize you and you can see them multiple times. My daughter saw Belle during the scheduled time and then saw her later on just roaming around. My daughter kept wanting to go back and get a picture, Belle said to her "Oh I recognize you. I just saw you!" while I waited in line for her for another character. The final night, during the farewell party, some characters came out again for final pictures. This was late ish, so I just ended up going and met my parents. The lines were pretty short so I ended up getting a few pictures with some characters. I did not know the extent at which characters would interact with you (would've prepared my daughter better), but they willl have a short conversation with you. Throughout the week my daughter would just nod or give one word answers, I think she was just star struck lol. Any ways, I asked Belle if she went to the beach, she replied no and then asked me if I made sand castles and suggested I do that next time. I also asked Cinderella the same question, and she had a very similar response about sand castles lol. I also would've been better prepared had I known the level of interaction you could have. The staff do a very good job of staying in character and keeping up with the princess way of speaking, so elegant. I was also under the impression there was a 'no touch' policy of some sort except for kids and prob more comfortable for the characters, then I saw my dad had his arm out and Cinderella looped her arm through for the picture like they were going to the ball together lol. I shouldve just asked and stuck my arm out instead of trying to lean in and around their dresses (looks kinda lame lol). I also had to hide stuff I was carrying behind me lol.
-The characters and staff also double up in the musicials, not sure if my kid picked up on it, but my wife and I spent time trying to figure out which princess also played a different character in the musicials.
-Pirate Night - so much fun just seeing everyone dressing up. Some people go all out (halloween costumes, one family had their baby dress up as a parrot hah), some buy pirate tshirts (think fake tuxedo tshirts), some just wear the gifted bandana, and some just in regular clothing. All the staff and characters (just mascot character appearances) have pirate uniform as well. There are also two shows that happen this night as well; one that features Mickey and friends and one that features Pirates of the Caribbean with fireworks at the end (pretty awesome in the middle of the ocean).
-Lots of kids were in costume every night, it was really cute. My daughter really enjoyed being able to wear different dresses throughout the week (they were hard to pack cause of the volume they take up and now the inside of our luggages are covered in glitter lol).

All in all, it was a fantastic trip. Definitely some core memories for us and our older kid.
Might be our only Disney trip, wife wants to do other types of vacations and its a lot of work/money to travel from Canada (wife doesn't want to road trip it down), but I told her we have to take them to the parks too (rides, shows, etc). We got maybe 2-3 more years of that sweet spot of where its really still special for the kids and they will kind believe it lol. Only time will tell.

Only thing I missed was the Turkey legs lol. Do they still serve them at the parks?

If you read all that, then I applaud you lol thank you. Just wanted to share my excitement coming back from our trip.
