December Wrestling Thread | Rest In Peace Brodie Lee | Happy New Year | JOTM Bruce Mitchell

I feel like they shifted into full gear with that way of thinking after The Rock started to become such a huge success outside of wrestling

basically this. They are so scared of wrestlers becoming true Superstars and not needing them that they’ve made the choice to not let anyone rise to the level. They took a crap on Batista when he approached them about the possibility of being in Guardians of the Galaxy, only for them to try to poach him after it made loads of money. If they were actually sensible, they would realize that wrestlers becoming stars is actually good for them. Instead, they rather give you a sterilized product so no one can ascend.

What should WWE have done with Renee? Legit wondering.

YALL **** on her nonstop when she was on commentary.

She's awesome on the talk shows, but nobody watches those, and seems like she obviously wanted to be more than a backstage interviewer, which she also excelled at.

But this never made sense to me.

Sure, someone will attempt to come and steal your talent but why dumb down your own talent for THAT reason.

Imagine if Indy wrestling organizations had that same approach.
IMagine if ROH dumbed down their stars simply to keep them "hidden" from WWE?

Also, if a wrestling star GOES to Hollywood, it makes the wrestling business look stronger.

Ryback (so take with a grain of sodium chloride) claims that Triple H told him John Cena is the last marquee star they’d have and they don’t want to produce any more.

WWE puts their wrestlers on every damn show/movie/etc they possibly can. Hell y'all talking about?

Rock/Batista/Cena. All great for WWE.

Miz all over the place. Becky was all over the place.

Most backward stuff ever man.

For a company that LOVES to bring back PAST stars to remind the fans the CURRENT stars are trash, they certainly are shooting themselves in the foot with creating MEGAstars that will be able to comeback in 2035 to remind the fans how weak the (new) current stars are.

DUmb.
Dumb.

Who knows BEcky Lynch outside of those that are wrestling fans?

Miz, I will give you.

Roman will be a star on the outside as well. Well maybe not a STAR, but known.

I mean I don't know who does but they were obviously trying to push her. Had a bunch of TV ops on the way to WM35, and was just recently on an episode of Billions, Showtime's flagship show. Not really like women's performers have ever been in prominent roles outside of wrestling anyways.

Reigns next up. Is IT really WWE's job to produce world famous actors though? That's wild.
Not their job, but while they’re household names in wwe that’s when they start getting Hollywood opportunities. Nobody is saying wwe needs to make the next famous actor, but to actively hamper the roster so they don’t reach their full potential is dumb.

Who has been "actively hampered with?"

Dakota vs Io
5 man ladder match
Kross vs Lee
Cole vs McAfee

You'd think they add

Rhea vs Martinez
Balor vs Thatcher

Really good card
