DC Studios THREAD - GunnVerse Begins - The Penguin out 9/19 then every Sunday on MAX

They could have cut every Joker scene and it wouldn't have changed the film all that much. I'd actually prefer they did that, but save the last scene where he busts Harley out.

I was :eek when I noticed Joker had a club.

That club scene confused me. If Harley was gifted to me by him, I wouldn't know whether to accept it or not. I think either way you'll end up catching that bullet.

Exactly. Joker was already going to kill him the second he mentioned Harley. You saw it in his face. That bit after was Joker ******* with him and showing how twisted he is.

That is the ultimate no win situation. Your dead either way. Might as well go out getting them harley skins.

Looking back now that we're discussing, this scene is actually pretty dope. What makes it more twisted is how Harley plays it since she hops right on Common's lap, almost daring him to do something with her, knowing that he's too scared to.

oh and the crowd was way into it. they loved will smith. anything he did they laughed or cheered.

Honestly thought he nailed it and really made the role his own. Different from Romero, Nicholson, and Ledger, but still recognizeable as The Joker in all his twisted glory. I actually thought the scene with him and Harley at the club was pretty dope. You had him sitting in this kind of kingdom he'd crafted for himself, where he was in complete control and you had other criminals in Gotham basically coming to pay tribute to him. It's not something that Ledger's Joker would have done, but I thought it fit the tone perfectly in this film. I see a lot of people complaining about his relationship with Harley, but I think it adds a bit more depth to the character as well and breaks the typical mold of Joker only using her as a pawn. The big thing I was against going in were the tattoos in all honesty, but once I saw them in the film I got over it pretty quickly.
agreed. I like Leto's joker.

overall though, idk how to feel about this movie.... I loved BvS but this.... i have mixed feeling.

I was not feeling will smith as deadshot though..

I went into the movie wanting to get my money's worth and have a good time.

Plot was fairly simple.

Enchantress was lame. And I don't know who in the hell designed those black blob looking things.

Characters were underdeveloped. The June Moon, Rick Flag relationship held no weight since June had very little screentime. Literally see no point in introducing slipknot to kill him off after like 2 minutes of screen time. He was already unlikeable from the go, so his death meant nothing. Katana is just a bodyguard. Anybody could've been Flaggs bodyguard since she didn't do much. There's literally entire fight scenes where she's just not there at all. Boomerang was also useless as a fighter and as a character. He literally threw like two boomerangs and failed at achieving anything with that. Killer Croc was awful in every way.

Action was awful aside from Will on top of the cop car.

The final fight was god awful. The moment with Harley and Enchantress was just pathetic.

Katana actually never had his back, Flagg was pulled off a few times with her nowhere in sight. They just had to show Harley's wicked baseball bat skills I guess.

Smith did a better job as Deadshot than I expected him to do. Worst part in my opinion is that he didn't wear the mask more, but with Will Smith playing him I knew that would happen walking into AMC :lol He's not my favorite version of Deadshot by any means. He...cares too much. In that regard i'd say I prefer the version we got in Justice League Unlimited, who was more than content to sacrifice one of his teammates to get away. But Smith's version was solid for the film and the other personalities the character was working with.

Slipknot's purpose is to be a sacrificial lamb to show that Waller and her group means business. That kind of intro and sacrifice is actually classic Suicide Squad and I remember people in here were even predicting it would happen months ago.

Yeah, with suicide squad stuff it seems they kill off someone quick to show those bomb implants are real. Happened in the arrow show. I can't remember if it happened on Attack On Arkham as well.

deadshot's mask doesn't really go together with the rest of his costume.

Assault on Arkham and it did. :smokin KG Beast.

I don't know if it was the child acting, or the writing, but deadshot's daughter's lines were awful.

They made Killer Croc a stereotype

Amanda Waller outsourcing her intel team, "..detected movement on the floor below us..." was poorly delivered

No one else heard or saw Morgan from Mindy Project give Harley a bedazzled phone and bascially yell "Joker" as they were being transported?

Boomerang "comic relief" fell short, pink stuffed animal for no reason. Was it his kid's? I don't know, his back story didn't make the final edit.

What exactly makes boomerang better than Rick's soldiers?

Harley took the elevator, but somehow everyone beat her to whatever floor they were on, did they use slipnot's grappling hook to get up there?

Elevater doors opening with whole squad aiming, Avengers did it better

No one in the squad could take, or shoot, or steal Amanda Waller's Samsung galaxy S5? Really?

Camera on boomerang's boomerang was more stable than most of the final third of the movie

CGI was terrible for enchantress's brother, diablo's prison scene and fire dancer, end weapon debris

Speaking of diablo, when getting recruited, he declined and say, thats not me, I don't do that anymore, but then he uses fire to write "BYE" like HE STILL DOES IT ALL THE TIME...

Enchantress' plan of wiping out the human race by building a weapon?  She could've just used a combination of our own weapons, which she already knows exists

Enchantress fight scene?  Why?

The sqaud's mission was to evac a VIP who was already on the top floor of a skyscrapper to get onto a roof to get in a helicopter?  Rick Flag's team couldn't do that?  Harley, boomerang, slipnot, croc, are people you want for an escort mission?  Again, what could those people do that highly trained soldiers couldn't?

The inital plan was to use a bomb to blow them up from underneath, again soldiers couldn't do that?

Rick Flag hugging Deadshot was so forced to make the movie more light-hearted

Does bruce wayne know waller is a cold-blooded killer?

It was funny how waller would hold the phone in her hand and walk by them. Umm, smack it out of her hand or hit her hand with a weapon.

In a blink and you miss it moment, in his intro it says he has a unicorn fetish.

This may have been part of my problem with the movie. Those quick short intros by Waller were great, but they were so quick you may have missed some info...and those intros are so key to character development that you really only spend about 30 seconds on that, only to be distracted by the "oh damn the Flash scene is right here"

Regarding Enchantress and the third act...nothing, and I mean nothing will ever be as bad as FF: Rise of the Silver Surfer bad with Galactus :x :x :x
