‘Annabelle: Creation’ Star Grace Fulton Joins DC’s ‘Shazam!’

Grace Fulton is in negotiations to join New Line’s DC superhero film “Shazam!” starring Zachary Levi, sources tell Variety.

The film follows a boy named Billy Batson who can transform into an adult superhero by uttering the magic word “Shazam!” The name is an acronym of the ancient gods and historical figures Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles, and Mercury, who Batson derives his heroic attributes from when in adult form.

Fulton will play one of Batson’s friends. The Wrap also reports that Mark Strong is in talks for the role of the villain.

David F. Sandberg is directing from a screenplay by Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke. “Annabelle: Creation’s” Peter Safran will produce. The project will mark a reunion for Sandberg, Safran, and Fulton, who worked together on “Annabelle: Creation,” which has grossed over $300 million worldwide.

“Shazam!” will be the next DC Cinematic Universe movie to begin shooting, ahead of “Flashpoint,” the Joss Whedon-directed “Batgirl,” and the “Suicide Squad” sequel, which Gavin O’Connor just came aboard to helm. DC and Warner Bros. are also currently developing a standalone film about Black Adam, Shazam’s arch nemesis. Dwayne Johnson is attached to play Black Adam in that pic.

Fulton had mainly worked in the TV world previously, appearing in recurring roles on ABC’s “Revenge” and MTV’s “Awkward” before breaking out this past summer in “Annabelle: Creation.”

Forbes now hails Patty Jenkins' first solo outing for Gal Gadot's Amazon Princess as the highest-grossing superhero origin movie of all time.

Wonder Woman has officially lassoed a very impressive $821.74 million worldwide, just beating Sam Raimi's Spider-Man which took in $821.7 million back in 2002.

RUMOR: Rocksteady's SUPERMAN Video Game Could Be Revealed As Soon As Next Week

According to a post on 4chan (which admittedly isn't much better than Reddit but is often spot on with video game intel), the cover of December's Game Informer will unveil the game.

"Game Informer cover game will be revealed next week," the poster claims. "It will be Rocksteady’s Superman game. The scale and the ambition of the game is massive, you all will be blown away by the details. Can’t wait to see your reaction, lads."

KRYPTON: Upcoming Syfy Series Casts Brainiac And Superman's Great Grandmother

Syfy's Krypton is still casting and the latest additions are Ray Donovan's Paula Malcomson and Da Vinci's Demons star Blake Ritson. The former will take on the role of Charys, the matriarch of House El. Charys helps her son Seg (Superman's grandfather in the upcoming series) navigate the treacherous pitfalls of Kandor City, their beloved Kryptonian home embattled with oppression and revolt.

Ritson, on the other hand, will play Brainiac. He's described as a parasitic, hyper-advanced alien android of immense intelligence, Brainiac is one of Superman’s oldest and most dangerous foes.

Krypton is expected to premiere in 2018 and is set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet. It follows Superman’s grandfather - whose House of El was ostracized and shamed - as he fights to redeem his family’s honour and save his world from chaos.
