This. It's not even close. Buff Dave is slightly funny but skinny Dave is fall off your couch wheezing with laughter. It's bizarre. I won't say he fell off, it's just not the same AT ALL.

^^^I also think people's expectations on this is just too much. If he put out consistent work, these specials wouldn't be looked at in such a light. It's like him being away for a long time sort of hurt him as well. Sort of like Outkast. There last album was there best and with no consistent work in between, it is super hard for them to try to make music in today's time. That is why when they headlined Cochella, no one really cared.
Dave is good though, no doubt about it. I just hope these specials don't depict what he actually does live.

Two hours and probably 20 minutes of it was funny. Kevin Hart **** is the only part that really stuck out to me. A few good lines here and there. Trans stuff was kind of funny and his boy being gay. I was waiting for him to get real offensive and never did. I think I prefer Dave in movies. I don't think any of his standups have ever been real funny to me.
LA one was funnier to me. TX show was kind of uncomfortable. **** was country as hell and full of white cowboys.

I am talking about from the commercial sense and to the commercial masses. That album surpassed just hip-hop fans and beyond to a bigger demographic. That album went diamond and they got album of the year which hardly any hip-hop album does. There is no way they could ever make something like that again and especially in today's music.
Of course my favorite album was Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik. I liked when they acted like playaz and pimps and not aliens.

3 Mics was awesome. May watch again. Been looking for something similar since, because the honest portion was great. It was nice to flip between stand up and the real life (which was still mildly funny, just a lot more real) with the one liners almost as a palate cleanser.
Anyone know of any similar stand ups? I read he got inspiration from Mike Birbiglia's My Girlfriend's Boyfriend, just haven't got around to watching that yet.

it's from atleast 2015 I believe
the second one had to be more recent but prolly still atleast a year old too
I'm leaning towards the first one being better but some angles he took from the second one are impressive

I was at that show too in Houston but it was like almost brand new cuz I couldn't remember most of it. Either way I liked the LA show better. Dave still funny to me.

yeah, the second show is when dave was getting back into special joke making form
he was way more polished in the la show
it's crazy how it all came together for me cause I saw kevin hart months after I saw dave and it made his kevin hart bit that much funnier to me cause I know exactly what he's talking about
I was on a comedy run that year
I saw chris tucker, dave chappelle and kevin hart all within maybe 4 months amongst others

He is also pretty intersectional with his appeal.
My girl was rolling, and there are a lot of comedians who focus on male centric jokes. Dave is just funny.

If you pay attention closely, you can see the cigarettes fiend in Dave coming out early in the 2nd standup. Son was fiddling with his shirt pocket, that's where he keeps his cigarettes. He was fidgeting a lot, until he asked for the cigarette, which helped him out. I studied psychology so this is natural for me. Good standup none the leas
