I thought they was at the MET Gala.

The Met Gala is not a custom party. Yes, its the proceeds got to the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute(a.k.a. the fashion department),

Yes, there was a theme, but its not a costume party.

Yes it was the met gala, dopeness misspoke

The Met Gala actually used to be called Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit or Costume Institute Gala.

"The Met Ball is always a fantasia of fabulous costume dresses. Head-to-toe glamour is order of the day, but for this elegant annual occasion we can never wait to see how they make it suit the theme". - Marie Claire

Costume dresses =/= Costumes

This a Gala.
Where did I ever use the term "costume" in that context though?

Your captious windmilling been hitting nothing but air.

:{  ...it's a costume party, the theme was "Man vs Machine", Fashion In An Age Of Technology.

But Kanye always uses these events to promote his brand. Which is why I made a thread about whether or not this and other things are gonna be a "wave".

Not a thread where we could exclusively tear down Kanye as a person, because he wore contacts.

Let him cook, for tonight.

:|

The context in which you said this says everything.

Its ok bruh.

I aint judging no one for being a fan of dude.

I get what you're saying, but it's a little more complex than wanting to be "white".

I personally think he's going through an identity crisis. I've been there before.

...surrounded by people who grew up nothing like you, and they're easily startled, confused, and sometimes frustrated by your swag.

He probably just doesn't want to be seen as "black", and the two notions are not the same.

His dialect and mannerisms are changing though Or the "Kanye" we know from far back as the Paid In Full soundtrack was just a persona.

Dude sounds like he spent his whole life in Europe. Anybody who can go through such a metamorphosis at his age can only be attributed to a couple of things, self hate and yearning to be accepted by a certain demographic. Kanye is from Chicago and was born in Atlanta. He was a totally different type of individual up until the point he met his future wife. This is way deeper than "code switching" or growing up and becoming more "professional" this is a full on identity crisis and changing who you are for acceptance of others. It's quite sad actually. Dre, Jay, Diddy, 50, all had to change to a certain extent to reach the amount of success they have reached but didn't totally change who they are 100% to do so.

who gets influenced like that by their girl though?

dude is dressing talking and acting like a ig thot

Kanye had shades of that white man voice as far back as the LR era.

He was probably code switching around Hov and Beans and whenever he was around those type of cats.

Y'all talk the exact same in job interviews and **** as you do passing blunts talking **** with your boys?

Not to mention we've known the ***** for ten years. He ain't allowed to evolve :lol.

Ya doing a lot.

You gotta understand, Kanye was international before the money.

He lived in Asia as a kid. Traveling and encountering different cultures changes your perception, sense of self, and potential.

Hell, even Common one of the most "pro-black" rappers in the game, who's also from the Chi, was spotted on a date with Laura Dern.

Oh you mean you lighten up your voice and talk softer around certain people?

Man y'all caping on another level

That is not code switching

It's something way deeper

Dudes over here talking about he had the white man voice years ago :|

Why the **** is that ok ?

You can be intelligent as hell with a broad vocabulary and still speak as a proud and educated black man

The damn president of our nation is a prime example

This _ out here sounding like skip Bayless

And I'm a huge Kanye fan musically so don't give me that hater label

Where did I say that?

I just said I'm not gonna talk in a job interview or a professional setting with the exact same dialect and overall vibe as I would if I was just cooling with my ******.

You deserve a thousand Camron GIFs if you say you talk the EXACT same in both settings.

I don't lighten up my voice at all :lol.

You're trying to take this somewhere else lol. I just don't use slang and **** and make sure my grammar and annunciation is on point, stuff I'm really not caring about if I'm just shooting the ****.

Oh gotcha. I was just asking bc I've always questioned why people do that when they get in certain environments.

Black people love stereotyping themselves .:lol

I know your a highly educated dude and I'm quite sure your really eloquent

But I'll bet all my life savings you don't sound like 2016 Kanye
