I've reached the conclusion that I hold Dennis Allen more accountable and have more belief in the current talent on the roster this season than most fans I've talked to. Idc what anyone says, this team underperformed all season. Sure there are holes, there's also talent.  This is not a team of back ups, I really disagree with that statement. It's starved of playmakers and impact players but we have more than enough guys who are more or less serviceable first team players in this league.  Dennis Allen did not get maximum results with the players he had, that's on him.

That said I'm not exactly eager for Dennis Allen to be gone at all cost.. Something in me wants to see him get one more season to prove himself unless we have an opportunity to land one of the bonafied football minds out there.

apart of me feels the same way about DA. I'm torn..because I don't feel like he has a grasp of this team. I don't think he utilized everyone's ability to put us in positions to win. Put Jennings as an example...If DMC never got hurt we would never had seen Jennings excel the way he did...He didn't know what he had.

And let's be honest here...we don't have a whole lot of talent...but we had 3 serviceable RB's. DMC, Jennings and Reece and we could never figure a way to get anything going offensively.

O line was terrible, No starting QB on the roster, teams knew all we had was those 3 guys

Well I guess the real question is....If bill belchick was coaching this same team...what do you think our record would be?

I know this only his Second year and all...but at some point you gotta make halftime adjustments...at some point you gotta defend the screen pass better...at some point you gotta utilize Reece more...

my bad...maybe I'm just ready for next season lol

i would say if BB was coach he could get 8 to 10 wins, Cable and Hue got 8 with equal talent. DA hasn't developed a single player on our roster.

if Teddy B or Clowney, Barr are all gone at 5, we do need to trade down and build our O and D line and build from there...

[h1]McKenzie could be out in Oakland[/h1]
Posted by Mike Florio on December 29, 2013, 2:44 PM EST

At a time when it’s regarded as a given that coach Dennis Allen will be fired by the Raiders and that G.M. Reggie McKenzie likely is safe, there’s talk in league circles that G.M. Reggie McKenzie could indeed be on the outs as well.

Regarded by many as the only guy who is truly safe in Oakland, owner Mark Davis could indeed decide to clear the decks and start over, two years after dumping coach Hue Jackson and hiring a true G.M.

Via Jerry McDonald of InsideBayArea.com, former Raiders CEO Amy Trask raised an interesting point on CBS Sports Network earlier in the day regarding the performance of McKenzie and Allen since landing their jobs.

The narrative has changed in Oakland,” Trask said.  “Just about two years ago at the press conference, Reggie [McKenzie] remarked that he had looked at the [salary] cap situation and it was manageable.  He said the team would be fine.  Nothing wholesale would need to be done.  And Dennis Allen emphasized at that press conference that there was talent on both sides of the ball.  That there was enough talent to compete at the highest levels of the NFL.  And that there was talent to compete for a championship in 2012.

“Well the team then went out in 2012 and went 4-12 after having been one game removed from the playoffs the year before. . . .  Continuity is important. I argued with Al [Davis] about that all the time. We had so many arguments, about a lot of things, but about the importance of continuity.  But at some point, you have to say, ‘What is more important?  Keeping the same person in place or evaluating and considering and making sure you have the right person in place’. . . .  When you ask if [Allen] is the right person, I go back to what I opened with.  Why has that narrative changed entirely in two years with the team’s performance?”

The narrative was crafted, and then changed, both by McKenzie and Allen.  Come Monday, Mark Davis could decide to tear up the script.

I don't think Mike Florio has anything there if he's using Amy's thinking as his main argument.

Boy oh boy...What a season....

The Defense. Man....Sometimes I jumped out of my seat....and sometimes I JUMPED OUT OF MY F*^IN SEAT. lol.

Shame that Streater didn't get his 1k yds. Although, I do love his willingness to get the ball. With his and Andre Holmes sizes, I see why McGloin was trusting of them both.

DMC...is that really what you got? You really going to go to a contender and emerge? Or you at the end of Priest Holmes/Shaun Alexander/Tomlinson point of your careeer already?

a #1 receiver opposite of Streater and Holmes in the slot would be dope.

Want to see Charles Woodson back for sure.

Coaching.....I still have a bitter taste from bringing in Greg Knapp last year....that guy really? You got someone like Carson Palmer at QB and you think Greg Knapp has plays to utilize that? Jackass.

How many damn times is a team going to convert a 3rd and long on them with a screen play..... I know Jamal Charles is fast. But for the love of the game man....after the 1st and definitely the 2nd time....WTF?

QBs....Woof. Pryor won me with his heart...But kid you can't let an undrafted walk on rookie go out there and straight look more seasoned that you do brother. I mean at what point does potential turn into wasted potential. We can point the finger at coaching...But I don't see anyone in line drooling over Pryor just waiting for the Raiders to release him to turn him into a QB.

Reggie probably deserves another year but I don't think there will be any rioting if Mark lets him go.

Insert The Rock clapping gif.

Bravo Amy. I see it and you see it.

Firing Reggie would take us 2 steps back imo

I see where you're coming from. Which is why I'm kind of torn on wanting him here and him getting the boot, I just honestly hate how he drafts and this is a big year in the draft for us. At the same time, he's done well with nothing as far as free agency goes and the cap space is there for him to make some really big moves. We'll just have to wait and see I guess.

Players Say Allen Will Be Back

Allen proceeding as coach for 2014 Raiders By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer Monday, December 30th, 2013 at 12:32 pm in Oakland Raiders.

Raiders coach Dennis Allen met with players as a group and individually Monday and was conducting himself as a man who would be the head coach in 2014.

Six coaches had been fired while Allen was talking with players _ Gary Kubiak (Texans), Greg Schiano (Buccaneers), Leslie Frazier (Vikings), Jim Schwartz (Lions), Mike Shanahan (********) and Rob Chudzinski (Browns).

Allen is 8-24 in two seasons with the Raiders. Owner Mark Davis was scheduled to meet with general manager Reggie McKenzie, then at some point brief Allen and the staff on how the club will proceed.

Running back Rashad Jennings said his meeting with Allen reviewed his performance over the season with a message of how the organization would go forward.
“I expect him to be here,’’ running back Rashad Jennings said. “Those are decisions that are not in our hands, but he’s definitey the guy for the job.

Left tackle Jared Veldheer, asked if Allen said he would be back, said, “Yes.’’

Long-snapper Jon Condo
I met with him individually and we met with him as a team and he said, `Hey, I’m going to be here,’’ Condo said. “Hue Jackson once said he was going to be here a lot longer than people in this room and he got canned a week after that.’’

Allen is schedule meet with the media at 1 p.m. for his season-ending press conference.

Look at his smug face at the presser...he aint going anywhere. He didnt smile like this when the Ravens, Chiefs, and Eagles were dropping 40 and 50+pts on us
View media item 718680He is laughing at all us Raider fans.

What a joke.

Mark Davis on Dennis Allen: “Really, the only people who’ve been replacing Dennis as coach of the Raiders is the media” | Talking Points

Just spoke to Raiders owner Mark Davis on the phone, and while he said that no official decision has been made on coach Dennis Allen’s status for the future, Davis gave every indication that he is likely to bring him back for 2014.

GM Reggie McKenzie, as expected, is on even firmer ground. And again, it seems very much that if McKenzie is sticking with Allen, then Davis is very likely to stick with both, for at least another season, even after back-to-back 4-win seasons.

Allen signed a four-year contract two seasons ago, which Davis pointed out.

Davis said that he expects to meet with Allen probably next week–another sign that he is in no rush to make a big change, though Davis did say there was a scenario or two where Allen might not be the Raiders coach.

“I don’t know, what if John Madden decided he wanted to be a coach again?” Davis said with a laugh.

—-MARK DAVIS interview transcript/

-Q: So, are you bringing everybody back?

-DAVIS: Those are things Reggie and I have been talking about. I think I told you that at the end of the season Reggie would sit down with Dennis, get all the information, debrief, talk to the players, just get a good feeling for that.
Then we’d sit down and talk, Reggie and I and then Dennis and I… And that hasn’t happened yet. We’re going through that process.

-Q: Dennis said today that he’d gotten some indications that he’ll be back for 2014. Is that accurate?

-DAVIS: My main thought is that Dennis has a contract that he signed two years ago. He’s fulfilled two years of it and Reggie and I will sit down and talk, but yeah he’s the Raiders head coach right now.

Really, the only people who’ve been replacing Dennis as head coach of the Raiders is the media. Am I correct? I’m still going by what I told you earlier, just let the process play itself out.

I’ll do whatever it takes to make this team better.

-Q: Have you had your season-wrap conversation with Reggie yet?

-DAVIS: I’ve spoken with Reggie, we’ve talked quite a bit today, just about the process and who he’s been speaking with, the health thing with the players, exit stuff… so that part’s taken care of.

You look around at a lot of these other teams–there were what, five or six coaches released today?

It’s an interesting dynamic when that happens, it’s not just the head coach that goes, at times the coaching staff goes as well. And there are always those opportunities, whether the head coach of the Raiders would see some of the other staffs and see other guys they’re interested in.

It’s a very dynamic process right now. It’s tough, man, because it’s all about families… I’ve always said it’s almost like they’re military army brats…

-Q: Are all of your assistants on one-year deals, are they all set to expire?

-DAVIS: I believe a good amount of them were. Maybe two that were actually signed for two years initially. And those guys are all being …  Dennis has to determine what kind of staff he’s going to want.

There’s flexibility; it’s also about people’s lives as well.

-Q: When do you plan on sitting down with Dennis?

-DAVIS: We haven’t set a specific time. But probably some time next week I would think.

I want to see how the playoffs go this weekend–there were some amazing games around the league yesterday.

-Q: Has Reggie recommended to you that you bring Allen back?

-DAVIS: I’m not going to talk about any of those discussions. In time we’ll find out.

-Q: So it sure sounds like Allen will remain your coach.

-DAVIS: He is the coach of the Raiders right now, there’s no question about that.

-Q: Is there a scenario where he isn’t the coach any more?

-DAVIS: There’s always a scenario, you know that. I don’t know, what if John Madden decided he wanted to be a coach again?

-Q: Have you talked at all with Jon Gruden, seeing if he’d come back?

-DAVIS: I’ll never talk about what I’m doing in those respects. It’s such a competitive business, there’s no reason anyone should know what I’m thinking until I do it.

Why do y'all hate how he drafts? The 2012 draft he was handicapped badly, I mean we didn't even get a chance to pass on Russel Wilson :lol
Hopefully Bergstrom, Burris & Crawford end up being good role players but you can't expect starters with those picks.
2013 was the first real year you can judge his draft.
Sio Moore was probably the best OLB in the draft class.
I know Watson didn't look good but he was injured all year and is still very raw so we knew it would take a while.
Tyler Wilson failed but whatever, McGloin can be a serviceable backup for us. Mychael Rivera is a baller, loved that pick. Kasa deserves time as well, he should make the team over Mastrud next year.
Murray was hurt. Stacy McGee looks like a solid depth player.
The big pick that will decide the 2013 draft is DJ. I know it sounds ridiculous but we were a better team when he was on the field. You can see the potential w/ him, he just has to go through a full offseason of weight + strength training so he can do a better job with those 50/50 balls.

Late round/undrafted players brought in by McKenzie that have a future on the Raiders: Streater, Holmes, McCants, King, Olawale, McGloin

I hope we give McKenzie at least 3 more years, Dennis Allen gets 1.

^ I agree with your take on most of those draft picks but I'll always think drafting D.J was a huge mistake

I'll give Dennis Allen another year. I am hoping he is happy that he and McKenzie can form more of a "NFL Caliber team" as well as develop some of the younger guys.

I am excited to see Murray and still have lots of hope for Hayden. I hope D.J. puts in that work to be next in line of great Raider DBs....and not Philip Buchanon. lol
