I know who did make it
But forreal; Hargett is a Will Bynum, Nate Robinson type dude. Short, black, strong,. bouncy type dude.
I remember the 2001 Roundball Classic, Hargett vs Will Bynum was SUPPOSED to be the matchup but Will had already played in the Nike Derby and the Wendy's All Star Shootout (NY vs CHI). I wanted to see that matchup SO badly
Video of Hargett and the Atlanta Celtics from that year
Sherron (cept for the fat), Thrill, Jameer, Nate are all Hargett's size. Hargett wasn't THAT big man. It did seem like he was huge back then though.Originally Posted by lnMyMind
his size?
I honestly can't think of a single NBA point guard that had his frame. I mean there are alot of little guards in the NBA but none were quite built likehim. Jameer is pretty solid for his height but he was nowhere near Hargett. Dude had to be like 215-220 solid.

I remember seeing Hargett back in 2003 at a streetball game at the Arthur Ashe Center in Richmond, Bone Collector bounced it off homies head and he was heatedOriginally Posted by lnMyMind
Basically...he and his mom were getting SERIOUS cake from a local "street agent/leech" type of dude with the understanding that he wasrepresent Jon when he turned PRO. I'm not 100% positive on this next part but Gale Catlett (WVU coach at the time) knew all about it and other shadybusiness going down within the program and he ended up resigning after Jon's first year. When Dale Dakich came in, he was approached by the "streetagent/leech" dude and tried to regulate %@%$ about the direction of the team and Jon's agenda. Dakich dropped the dime to the Athletic Director andquit before the year even started...investigation ensues...4 dudes get kicked off the team...Jon gets banned for life. Tried to come back with Virginia Unionbut the NCAA denied his re-instatement. Travled as a "street baller" up and down the east coast for a while and ended up putting his name in the 05draft and worked out for several teams but of course didn't get drafted due to his background. Ended up in the CBL...ABA...IBL one of them amateur leaguesand was putting in work before the league folded. Somewhere along that time frame he sustained a major knee injury...never been heard from SINCE. None of uswho played with him ever stayed in contact with him and we don't know where he is. Neither do the coaches.Originally Posted by JamesOnNT
InMyMind, what's the full story on Hargett?
Dude is like an urban legend.
Southern Cal All-Stars (Los Angeles, Calif.) - *2Like the Michigan Mustangs, Southern Cal was loaded with talent, but didn't quite win as many tourneys as expected. Although the All-Stars made it tough on opponents, even Tyson Chandler of Dominguez High (Compton, Calif.), Mater Dei High's (Santa Ana, Calif.) twosome of 7-foot-1 Jamal Sampson and 6-foot-4 Cedric Bozeman, and 6-foot-6 Josh Childress of Mayfair High (Lakewood, Mich.) couldn't carry the All-Stars to the number of wins many people expected them to produce.

People always say to me, "when you get to the NBA, don't forget about me." Well, I should've said back, "if I don't make it to theNBA, don't you forget about me."

It seems to be an annual tradition of his to bring this thread back.
