I was seriously hoping this would happen. I'm not an expert on the financial stuff, but couldn't they have just bought out Scal? Even at this stage ofhis career, Darius is still 10 times more useful than him.

He will be making money for a minute from the Blazers..

He doesn't need another contract. He can play for the minimum which makes him somewhat appealing to teams willing to take a chance on this dummy.

Ainge kept Scal for trade purposes. He's still on the books for 2 more seasons I believe, at about $3 million each season. Ainge needed to keep him onboard in order to match salaries. This is useful, considering that most of Ainge's tradeable assets (Pruitt, Big Baby Davis, Powe, O'Bryant, Walker,Giddens) make very little money. But yeah, you are correct. D-Miles is still better than Michael Rapaport.
