Have you tried jump rope?

I heard you get the same cardio workout as you would if you were running...

I have a friendly competition with someone to see how many jumps you can do, and it makes it fun.

Also, do you have a dog? Running alongside your dog trying to keep up is a great motivational workout.

Ive had coaches who get paid $$$$$$ who told me/tell me it is.

I aint talkin bout floating and coasting and casuual arm and leg movement, Im talkin bout SWIMMING.
If a person does 25 "go hard" laps u best believe they have just put in some serious cardio work.
the accelerated Heart Rate you sustain during those laps is exactly what u need for an Aerobic Work out.

Next time any of yall are at a pool, I ask yall to hop in and go all out for 10-15 laps ( #*#% even 5 Laps ) and tell me your heart wasnt pumpin at double the normal rate the entire time .
Gunna,

I am no expert. I believe I stated that this is what I was told, from what I believe is a reliable source.

I am not sure that the increased heart rate alone qualifies as Cardio. Again, your heart rate will increase during a hard workout on the weights, butthat's not cardio.

These are more medical, scientific definitions of what Cardio is or isn't. Smoking weed increases your heart rate. That doesn't make it cardio. I knowthat's an extreme parallel. But I'm just saying, the increased heartrate alone is not the definition of cardio.

I swim my #%@ off B. For an hour non stop, 4 different strokes, all different muscle groups. I even Box underwater. Always felt that it was more of a muscleworkout than a cardio workout. Just based on how my body feels afterwards.

And the distance or intensity wouldn't really make a difference on whether or not it's cardio. The exercise itself either is or isn't. Running iscardio. You could run fast, slow, long distance, short distance, it's still cardio.

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I have no problem admitting that. I just want some real proof that I am wrong. So I can learn from it.

Word, I hear you and Craftsy

its just diff schools of thought.
I m gonna shoot my coach an an email and paste yall his reply on the matter.

One thing I didn't agree with in Craftsy's post was this....

"Because the buoyancy of the water is supporting your body, you're not working as hard as it would if, say, you were moving on your own steam -- likeyou do when you run," says Harr.

Buoyancy really should not have much on an effect if you are SWIMMING. This isn't FLOATING.

You still need to work to propel yourself through the water, which provides way more resistance than running through air.

Staying afloat isn't the work out. Propelling yourself through the water is. And water provides resistance damn near everytime you move. So I'm notsure what buoyancy has to do with that. Yes, you aren't working to stay afloat.

But that's not the workout anyway. You move on your own steam every stroke you take. Pause. HA!

I found that statement to be strange.
