Boardwalk Empire Season 5 Thread - Series Finale - Eldorado

At the end of season 2 Jimmy told Richard "Come home Richard"
2 more seasons later Harrow finally comes home.

Hoover did tell Narcisse he'd let him continue to pretend to be whoever he wanted, as long as he cooperated. I'd put money on him being around next season and him being a person of conflict between Nucky and Chalky. Obviously Nucky is all about business, but he also has history with Chalky so the whole relationship with Narcisse is a sticky one.

Still hurt by the loss of Harrow :{. I'll be watching the finale again tonight.

In one of the interviews, Terence Winter said HBO is putting together a short Richard Harrow memorial-type video that will be aired. Can't wait to see that.

Harrow truly was one of the best characters out there, for any show. He was a cold-blooded killer in hindsight, yet, you couldn't hate him for it :lol :hat .

Tribute? :lol

Dude's a fictional character.

Nevertheless, I will be watching. Hah.

It struck me as odd too, but I'm not complaining :lol .

Here's the quote about it:
We just cut together a little piece that HBO’s going to run of a Richard Harrow memoriam thing, and it’s really emotional. That character resonated with people and certainly for us. Jack Huston’s portrayal of that guy was heartbreaking, and it speaks to how good of an actor he is. This guy, by his own count, said he killed like 87 people, and you still forgive the guy. People would just want to invite him over for dinner, [Laughs.] and it’s like, “This guy’s a murderer!” He’s done some horrible things, but he really made you fall in love with him.

Without BB, and BE, and football wrapping up in two months my Sundays are going to so "enh."

I just have a quick question though. Ive studied SOME about Marcus Garvey and Hoover in my life but not a bunch, and since BE follows some historical ques, is...

Narcisee supposed to be similar to Hoovers agent 800? Especially if it includes Black Star Lines, ect ect If so that could make an interesting dynamic in the Narcisse/Chalky beef.

RIP Richard Harrow.

no one mentioned this, at least didn't see it, but one of the best parts of the episode was Narcisse saying "Yes...Sir" to Hoover. it pained him so much to utter that.

Just saw the finally. Twas Dope. Harrow couldn't do all that killin and live to enjoy the life he set up. Specially goin back for another hit, wit shot nerves and a bad hand. It never works out for ppl in those spots.
Things happened far from how I imagined, but I really enjoyed it. The botched Narcise hit (cant stand dude, but his character is too sik), Eli survivin ( didnt see that comin but makes sense) And Chalky catchin multiple Ls (dead daughter, no revenge). Totally different from last seasons complete closure.

Cantwaut to see Capones rise, more history woven in wit Hoover ad Garvey.

Show is too :hat

Finally. :lol

On the real though, Harrow and Jimmy. War buddies. Early deaths. Tragic stories. The parallels. 8o :Nthat

I agree with people posting about the real life characters from the show, NOBODY cares. We get it, you can read wikipedia. If I want to know about a character I'll look it up. They are spoilers, and should be treated as such.

One of the best shows out and i saw Libyans and Jews complaining that it was boring on twitter last night :{

I think this season really displayed the fragmenting of black America and Nucky was being honest with Narcisse about what he said about Chalky and black leaders.
Women and egos played a lot into the destruction of Chalky's and Narcisse's enterprises ...I like how the writers used white logic and planted seeds in the viewers minds.

Last episode Nucky told Narcisse he couldn't sit with whites and Naricisse was offended ...Before Onyx was even built Nucky warned Chalky that he wouldn't be accepted and him cosigning Chalky would be asking a lot and putting his reputation on the line.

In the finale when they were arrested you can hear the crowd "they never belonged here in the first place", "put those animals where they belong" etc....

Honestly no one brought the downfall of both Narcisse and Chalky except Narcisse and Chalky ...Nucky took all the risks for Chalky and he let his ego get in the way.

Glad to see Knox getting offed, but damb, Harrow didn't make it.

Can't wait to see Capone take over

I also found it a little corny that Chalky was sitting on top of the world at the beginning of the season to hitting rock bottom at the end.

His rise was nothing but a short-lived set-up for this season's drama. :{

Read up, son. Read up.

I have but you know Boardwalk Empire is only loosely based on real life figures ...so maybe for theatrics they let set it up that way to make them both seem paranoid.

Too cerebal if Torrio set up Al and then Al set up Torrio. I'll go with the simple explanation for now and say it was O'Banion's men still wanting revenge.

However, the way Al acts on this show, so unpredictable and vindictive, such a ******g loose cannon, at least on his end he could've thought Torrio set him up and then put the hit out on him. Plus when you add in how Torrio's been acting lately which was a 180 from last season when he gave Al some slack and some of the reins it does hint that he was annoyed with Al enough with how he was acting like a boss before the boss was gone to try to get him killed but it's too much of a mind **** to contemplate.

All in all, it ended between then how it always should've ended. The elder boss retires and passes the torch to his chosen successor with no ill will or inner conflict.
Narcisse won't be a player anymore IMO. He's relegated to spying in Garvey etc. So i don't see why Hoover would allow him to do anything else
I can see him spending the rest of his time trying anyway possible to get up from under Hoover.

It'd be something else to see if he could lure Hoover in to the thick of it and then him get offed (yes I know that won't happen but a close call would be cool to see).

Nice caps ^^ im upset over chalky's daughter getting caught in the middle. Imean why even bring her out ? Made no sense, she was fine by the door with a gun to her head. And then out of all the game 7's where harrow is like the GOAT...he misses a clutch lay-up ftw. Nahh...you cant make someone like that seem so weak at that moment. No matter if he wanted out of that life or not...dude was a killing machine, had the shot lined up for what seems to be forever...and got cramps at the last second. Smh

My man...Was thinking the same damn thing..No Way Harrow would go out like that missing the game winning free-throw shot. This man killed a ***** with a sniper rifle; hip shot without shooting tommy in the way. I'm not buying it.

What if Harrow makes a comeback out of nowhere to surprise? It could happen..

Nah, the producers talked about how it was the end for him in the Behind the Scenes feature.

Harrow was one of my favorite characters but I think the most powerful scene last night was the fight between Knox and Eli.
