Black Culture Discussion Thread

Depends on what you mean by low lives. Hypocrites or people living their truth.

I hear ya.

Also……whenever I hear someone say “living their truth” it sounds like something a female would say. No disrespect to you of course champ……just trying to help clear the way going forward. I want brothas to speak correctly from here on out.

RC is VERYYYYY wrong :lol :lol :lol

He’s quoting the bible… the bible also tells the story of King Solomon and his 700 wives.

Infidelity is here to stay. Adults (male and females) stepping out of their relationship is never going to stop.

The very students Sherrone coaches are probably juggling and running through various coeds and women. A lot of black men (especially the ones who like white women) are going to celebrate dude.

A lot of dudes will be giving him props for having an affair and tricking. Our society definitely praises that type of behavior.

Again, I’ve always been a Wolverines fan. Sherron’s lifestyle, I could care less about

Wealthy, successful, PROFESSIONAL men cheat! It’s how the game goes.

That’s why I laugh at women, who want a rich man who’s supposed to financially support them while they sit home and tend to the kids…. ANDDDDD they think he’s supposed to be faithful to them, and them only. It’s ludicrous:lol :rollin

(I’m Not saying all wealthy men cheat) but if a poor or lower middle class man who lives paycheck to paycheck, cheats … imagine the men with 6,7, and 8+ figure incomes :lol

I know.
I know.

Saying The black man shouldn't act like that in public is me saying he should act white because black people enjoy stunting by nature.

#Respectabilities

Floyd ain’t do nothing wrong. I don’t understand why people care so much about what those other people think:lol

Caring about the opinions of people’s who ancestors literally enslaved us is BAFFLING :lol

They definitely didn’t care when they made people change their names from Dikembe Lazarus to Bosephus Brown

So you don't believe when a black man squandered a position like Sherrone did, it doesn't directly affect potential hires moving forward?

We aren't even talking about the cheating part, just how this affects the PEOPLE.

Meh - Depends on the organization.

If an organization uses Sherrone to deny a qualified black man a job, then they weren't going to hire a black man anyway, and no black man should accept employment from an openly racist organization.

IMHO, that's a win-win.

Sherrone himself will have no problem getting another job if the company decides the cost/benefit analysis supports their decision.

Business isn't the place to expect morality unless morality increases profits.

He ain't in "trouble" for what he did. He's in "trouble" for being caught—big difference.

Organizational thinking: if he can't keep his own secrets, then he can't keep ours.

Ryan Clark is entitled to his own opinions, even if they aren't supported by reality.

Let's not forget what Harbaugh did.

Not once did Ryan Clark indict all white folks / involve the "white community" about it.

Clark's job is to create interest in the show with his personal takes and commentary, but best believe, even he has skeletons in his closet.

Don't we all?

He's just better at keeping it on the low/not getting caught...for now.

IMHO, black folks like Clark on some Sambo business.

Thinking that a white organization hiring a black man for a top spot means "the black community" made it is WILD.

I think people need to keep in mind that Sherrone didn’t get fired because he got caught cheating, he got fired because he got caught cheating with a Michigan employee. Same with Udoka. There’s a lot there with power dynamics when you’re a multi millionaire dollar head coach sleeping with some lower level employee.

If he had just got caught cheating with some random woman not related to U of M, he would’ve just made an apology and everyone would’ve moved on by next week.

In your estimation, is this pod, in general, not this specific episode, worth a consistent listen?
Personally, I can’t do it. Van is too dramatic about everything and homegirl voice grates my last nerve. Every now and then I catch a clip w/a guest that’s worth listening to, but can’t do a whole episode of those two.

Overall, it is probably the biggest mover in my Podcast Power Rankings for 2025. Anyone that k own me knows I listen to podcasts more than I consume any other form of content.

Van's pandering van be annoying but I can tolerate it.

He talks over Rach a lot to the point the comments sections always get on him.

I enjoy how he challenges and demands more from all parties while acknowledging he isn't siding with "them" while doing so.

I enjoy their mix of politics and pop culture.

Figured this was a safe space to post this anecdote

I was reading The Dirt (Autobiography of Motley Crue) and in the 80s, one of the members was on dope. So he moved to South Central in order to cop quicker.

One of the things he noted was that white people would loan you money with no problem, while you could give a Black person $5 five years ago and they wouldn't forget until you paid them back

How come every AN athlete does something stupid it turns in to ATHLETES? Forget everyone else thats doing just fine, let’s spread this moment in time across all of reality. Even if you looked at all the athletes that fumbled over a woman through all of time, it would still be a tiny fraction of athletes. But, you know, “Gotta make content”.

Wild theory: The idea of the “black community” is actually detrimental to the “black community”.

I wish people would stop thinking “fumbling” is only reserved for men.

A lot of women ain’t s*** either. They need to stop pushing the narrative that men are bad. It’s damn near mutual sometimes!

And also, there are a LOT of good people left. Male and female

Ultimately, people need to stop taking relationships advice and live life

I think we're a few generations out from even hearing about women throwing their career away over a dude. If it were to happen today, they wouldn't even talk about it. Said player would just be quietly retired.

"I understand white men pick the wrong partners too."

tough breaking out ‘should’ statements…then it’s hilarious that she seems to think that women of all backgrounds & professions aren’t about &/or on the bs 🤣 in fact ‘professional’ women might be even more predisposed to being head cases, professional achievement isn’t insulation for either men or women when it comes to how they operate in relationships 😮‍💨…further, to just make a broad/sweeping generalization about the difference in how men & women tend to select, especially today, while both genders tend weight physical attraction above everything else, men just don’t typically (dis)qualify based on things like attainment, education, employment, status…that noted folk tend to get w/those that they are in proximity to &/or within socioeconomic status

also (pro) athletes are in a unique cohort & it probably wouldn’t surprise most to find out that they have a higher divorce rate than average , especially upon retirement…it definitely could be that athletes are worst selectors than us in gen pop but also their lifestyle could just be difficult to sustain 🤷🏿‍♂️
