"No dreads" was thing for a while. "No Jordans"....a dude tried to tell me no Jordans except 1s. I had on IIIs, questioned the hell out of that logic then just walked on in. I noticed security didn't stop me and bartender hurried up and offered me a drink.

security be iffy. If you know the owner longer than the security guard, you have no problem getting thru.

Damn, I never ran into any dress code problems in H town ain’t even know they be on that :{ …Then again coming down there where I’m from our regular fits are fly compared to most of the locals :lol

No they really made it up on the fly. If they didn't like the look of you, they would make some **** up. Its a cycle in mid town. They start doing it, something like this comes out, they stop for a year or 2, then slowly start going back to it.

Yea that makes sense, last time I was round there I went to clutch in like Feb and they def wasn’t on any dress codes…Cheekz was out and seen tech fleece suits :lol

Only part of Houston I been to was Alief. Several times. As far back as last month. Wasn't no dress codes to the few spots I been too. I guess it's gonna be a slow rollout.

 The hell??????

But yea, security plays games. Same here with going to the go-go. Seen dudes get charged extra because their hats were a certain color. ; So I definitely believe it.

How club/bar doormen just make up dress code rules is trash af. They will eye particular folks as soon as they get in line then come up with some bs when you get to the front.

Here in Cali once, security told me they weren't letting anyone in wearing a tall tee. I'm 6'2 and had on a regular pro club. They said it looked tall to them so no entry. I asked to speak to the head of security. This guy comes out wearing thee tallest tee ever lol. looked at his staff like they were idiots and let me right in.

The folks at the door and bouncers in general really be letting the “power” get to their heads…It’s even worse for ladies cuz those dudes always trying to smash em on some quid pro quo bs

Some times I think they'll single out people they think they might not be able to handle physically. I'm a bigger dude(especially in TX), they told me I couldn't get in with sneakers then let a smaller guy in with vans.

I agree. I'm a big dude too and would get singled out for the stupidest thing. In Arizona I went to a brunch spot that allowed all footwear except for jordans. There was a huge sign in front that said it. So I pulled up in nike slides and a Jordan jersey. And right there on the spot, the dude at the door tells me they just banned all Jordan apparel. So I say I'm wearing a champion jersey which isn't technically JB apparel. Then he says, "oh well the ban includes anything that says Jordan".

Lol man me and homie got turned away from a spot that didnt allow face tats and neither of us had face tats. My boy who was an aspiring DJ had a small clef note tatt on his neck and they said that counted as face/gang tatt. That was also in Arizona.

if social media didn’t exist locals will still be in 90s fashion. Talking about I got polo at home and this and that.

Between s arbitrary "rules", "sections", and the current economic/dating environment, the club culture is on life support anyway.

A wiser choice is to avoid those places altogether and save your money.
The real fun is the top secret after hours, where the owner understands the clients desires. Even though I’m living in the Bible Belt of America the “rules” don’t even apply to the rule / law makers.

Been to Houston a few times, the dress codes are really that specific at some spots we passed. Like not even just “no sneakers” but VERY specific shoes that are popular with Black people that aren’t allowed.

One sign even said “No New Balances” :lol

basically no b-more peoples allowed. Lol

The messed up part is Houston borderline segregated anyway. They doing all they’re is stopping is transplants and tourists. Basically making the city look bad.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), STD rates in the United States have been rising in recent years. In 2023, there were over 20 million new cases of STDs reported nationwide. Texas, where Houston is located, has one of the highest STD rates in the country.

In 2022, Houston reported a significant increase in cases of syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia. These trends may continue into 2025.

There are better (and safer) ways for people to spend their time and money than club culture, especially in Houston.

The Lord works in mysterious ways.

Bouncers/racist club owners could be saving black men's lives (and pockets), and we ain't even know it  :smh:

I never been turned away by how I dressed while I lived down there. And once you find the spots you like you don’t really bar hop around Midtown and end up somewhere that was surprise you.

Only ******** I experienced was at some random Spanish spot we were gonna pop into before we walked over to Fox Hollow. Bouncer shook is head and said “It’s Spanish night”.

We were down MIA once, trying to get into LIV and one of my boys got denied entry because he was wearing a striped pole. Striped polls (not polos) we illegal that night for some reason.

My boy was dark skinned with locs.

I remember when I first moved here, I was working at the Academy Sports Wearhouse. I was getting dropped off, in front of us was a guy dropping off a woman. They kissed, she got out the car, walked in and around the corner to meet another guy. They held hands a walked off. Between that and the fact that everyone in there was smashing everyone, I knew to leave them alone then. It never fails, every time I really vibe with a girl, she's from somewhere else.
