Black Culture Discussion Thread

I respect this viewpoint whole heartedly and most of my friends have aged out of using the N-Word in general, but you are correct. Zero consequences for its use, but whose fault is that?

I wonder if the day will come when that would is as cringey to use as the F word that rhymes with maggot? But then again, it would take a group of collective power to make that change. We know that ain’t happening anytime soon.
It's our fault. We (fake) used it as a term of endearment (I hate that line of reasoning) , put it in our music for the world to hear so of course they will use/adopt it. It's our fault. We gave the world a pass to use it.

Agree 100% with your second paragraph. You know we dont have THAT level of power.

I 100% believe it was Jerry Heller who came up with that "term of endearment." That's a whole nother deep dive we could do, but that's for another time.

Honestly, that word has become like the word "dude" and I guarantee that it won't have a meaning to blacks after our generation passes. You got kids of people like Mahomes, Lonzo Ball, and Drake who are 1/4 black, but I guarantee they will be dropping the n-word all up in the locker rooms, on wax, and probably even slip on an interview one day. Them kids all as white as Katie Perry, but hey it's going to be indistinguishable by 2042.

As I said when it happened, their approach is just insulting at times.. But "Black people love to dance and party" so expecting our campaigns to look like "their" campaigns is viewing the world through a white lens.

Wow!

I know it's ad hominem, but can we acknowledge the hypocrisy of a fraud accusing a fraud of fraud?
