Steve Hightower's first job was working nights and weekends for his parents' cleaning business.

While he was in college, it made sense to continue.

"I started as a janitor. I started cleaning floors and toilets and doing those things that most people would never even dream of doing," says Hightower, who appeared on CNBC's "Blue Collar Millionaires." But, he says, "I wanted more."

When he graduated from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, in 1978, he started his own small construction company.

As he tried to grow his business, Hightower struggled to get access to credit. At the same time, he learned about a program to sell gas in Ohio. That gave him ideas.

Hightower has always had big dreams, and he has never doubted his capability.

"When people ask me would I ever have imagined I would be where I am today? Absolutely," Hightower tells CNBC.

"Because if you don't think that you can be great, you'll never be great. And I knew that I was gonna be great a long, long time ago."

Steve Hightower's first job was working nights and weekends as a janitor.
Hungry for growth and frustrated with the barriers he was encountering in construction, Hightower pivoted: He developed an oil and transport business in 1981.
At first, growth was slow there too. In 1984, he had just one employee, an accountant, and Hightower Petroleum brought in its first $100.

"I remember when our first one hundred dollar bill came in," says Hightower. "I just remember our excitement."

Today, his wholesale diesel and gasoline company, Hightowers Petroleum, has 85 employees and sells 140 million gallons of oil per year. It buys oil products from refiners and delivers it to corporate customers such as FedEx and GM all over the country. It did $350 million in 2015 and hopes to hit half a billion in 2017.

The former janitor now drives a Jaguar and lives in a 11,000-square-foot mansion decorated with modern art. He also owns a stake in FC Cincinnati, a professional soccer club. He says he didn't grow up watching soccer, but, because he sees the potential to make money by being an investor, "now, I am a soccer fan."

Despite his success, Hightower says he still has aggressive growth goals.

Steve Hightower's first entrepreneurial venture was a small construction business.

"I still haven't made it. I'm still a very humble individual who's trying to do the best that they can and actually one day actually make it," says Hightower. "Because I understand what real money is. And the money that I'm playing with, some people use for, you know, exercise."

He says he will also always stay true to the words of wisdom his dad shared.

"The best piece of advice that I ever got was from my father," says Hightower: "'As long as you're honest, and as long as you don't try to beat anyone, and you do the right thing, then you have the ability to be successful.' And that I think is the best advice that I've had and that I can give to anybody else."

My name is Jamie Tucker, my son who attends PS 57 name is Jaidyn Tucker, I am a single father of this 5 year old. On June 6th my son woke up screaming from a nightmare, I ran to the room where my son was sleeping at 3:30 in the morning and asked him what is wrong, crying profusely he told me that his butt hurts, I looked at his butt and I thought that there may have been something abnormal.. I then asked my son what happened he said "am I in trouble daddy", I said no what is wrong, what happened did someone touch you? he said yes mr. Robert. mr. Robert is someone who works in the after school department through YMCA...

At this point I started recording the conversation between me and my son as he told me in details every horrific thing that this man did to him and possibly other children from inserting his finger in his rectum to showing him his penis and asking my son to touch his penis... I took my son to Metropolitan Hospital, they told me that they cannot do a rape kit on him because it was not done in the past 24 to 48 hours so I called the police to make a report,two officers responded who then took me to the SVU unit.. a detective spoke to me as well as my son and they had my son speak to a child advocate.. my son was still in shock and did not open up to them as it took him months to open up to me....

Yes I found out from my son that this had been going on for several months and he did not open up to me right away because he thought he was in trouble, I said to the detective as well as the therapist at safe Horizon my son may not open up to you because he does not know you and he has been traumatized, he has lost Trust in adults... Don't expect him to tell you everything that he told me because it took him months before he even told me... this man mr. Robert had my son brainwashed and manipulated that he would have been in trouble...

On June 6th after I made these allegations against him they removed him from the school. They did not notify any other parents that this incident took place and that their children might have fallen victim to this man. .. I spoke with the school principal and vice principal who informed me that the school is doing their investigation... I just find it hard to do an investigation when you do not notify other parents of the incident, just because you remove said individual from the school does not equate to an investigation being done....

My son also stated that on one occasion his teacher walked in and caught this man on my son and told him to get off of him ...my son has no reason to lie on his teacher whom he says he loves very much but he told me that she saw this man on him and told him to stop... I then question why did this teacher not report this to me when it first happened or why did she not report it to the school when it first happened and if she did why didn't the school officials report it to me or the police and have him removed then and there...

A friend of mine heard of my story and posted it on Facebook trying to Garner up other parents only to find out that this teacher was involved in another incident where she slapped a student and they swept it under the rug I am reaching out now for some kind of help to bring Justice to my son... I was told by detective Perez that they cannot go by Jaidyn's story at this point because they cannot put a five-year-old on the stand...

I have recordings from my son telling me what happened and they are not willing to listen to it. I am asking for your help to bring awareness of what happened to my son and possible other children, I set up this account as per a conversation with another parent who told me that it may be beneficial to my son for legal matters and his overall well-being.. my son is in therapy as I am also and we only ask that you keep us in your prayers as we go through this healing process thank you so much.
