Honestly, people (in masses) will like whatever is being promoted the most.
If it were the righteous stuff, then that would be what people would mostly be into.
But, "they" (those that are in control of that industry but folks aren't allowed to call them out by name) push that garbage and folks wonder why we act the way we do. (Yes the music matters a LOT).

I could go on for a while but WE don't control that industry so they will forever push the nonsense out there.

I believe the algorithm works majority by (their) design (we see what they want us to see) and a smaller portion of that coming from the things we look at, repost, interact with, forward, etc.

You can force an “algorithm” upon people… but it’s up to THEM to ignore/bypass. Which the majority out here CAN’T do.

I’ve mentioned this several times. I don’t follow IG models, I don’t listen to s*** like Sexxy Redd or drill rappers, or anything. Not my style…

But my explorer page is FULL. I just ignore it.

My joint be full of women, hood fights, mugshots, etc. I’ve never sought out that type of s***

I think it depends on the platform you’re on. FB obviously just shows you whatever(FB will even put up a fight with you). I can’t speak on twitter and tik tok because I never used them But I don’t think thats the case so much with IG, which is what was used in the post above. I say this based off my feed its all cars, jokes, food and fashion. I didn’t even know Offset got shot. My sister had to send me screenshots. Its was all over her feed. I think like 99.999 percent of things in life, no matter how it FEELS you still have power/control, you just have to KNOW how to use it.

First of all you have to make the effort to click the button to see what’s even on your explore page so that already 95% on the user. Ive clicked on explore maybe 10 times since I had IG. Secondly, the Explore doesn’t show you more of what you’re already viewing, it shows what it thinks what you might like based on what you AND who you follow and your followers interact with. Ive been preaching this to my homies I share stuff with and look at mine:

In physics the equation for power is work/Time. You gotta put in the time and work to have power over your feeds. If something does pop up I don’t want to see. I actually take the time to tell Ig I don’t want to see it. On top of all that, humans just have a natural negative bias. Folk would rather watch someone die in a car crash than watch two people make out.

this is a common rationale i always find curious, if we are talking about social media platforms, the main interest is to keep folk in/on the app & the algorithms are geared at that aim...not sure why this persists given the way individual people have shown the ability to manipulate different platforms to their own ends

This is a negative. I don’t go on my explorer page at all. Only if clicked by accident. This is all honesty.

1. I don't have an IG/Tik Toks account so anything I happen to share is stuff passed around in my group chats.

2. My Twitter feed has BEEN destroyted thanks to Peep Game sending me big ( . )( . )-ied womens. So I guess it knows what I like so yea. It's not bad though but I wouldn't scroll with someone standing over my shoulder.

3. I log into FB every blue moon but from what EYE see I haven't been fed anything I haven't previously shown interest in.

Location settings definitely plays a part and like I said, a lot of my family members and people I went to school with are heavily in the streets.

I’ve never been a street dude but, a lot of dudes I grew up with and went to school with send me friend requests all the time. Out of respect, I usually accept.

i've been Florida twice for the arts in Brickell, i know where to go.
